Primogenito
Polistena (, or ''Polysthénē'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about southwest of Catanzaro and about northeast of Reggio Calabria. Polistena borders the following municipalities: Anoia, Cinquefrondi, Cittanova, Melicucco, San Giorgio Morgeto. History Of uncertain historical origins, Polistena territory was inhabited since prehistoric times. From the remains found, it appears to be the territory of transit of the Locresi during their ancestral migration. A village with the modern name is mentioned for the first time in the 13th century AD. In 1783 Polistena was devastated by a violent earthquake, that razed to the ground most of the city and killed more than 2,000 people. The city was rebuilt quickly, basing on a design by Neapolitan architect Pompeo Schiantarelli, creating an urban center in the upper part of the city. Anoia (Central-Southern Calabrian, Calabrian: ) is a ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, Calabria (southern Italy) It is bordered by Melicucco and Primogenito to the southwest, Maropati to the northeast and Cinquefrondi to the southeast. Anoia is formed by two separate settlements, the ''frazioni'' of Anoia Inferiore and Anoi Superiore, the latter located about c. 800 m to the southeast of the other along the SS536 road between Cinquefrondi and Maropati. Locri
Locri is a town and ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Reggio Calabria, Calabria, southern Italy. Its name derives from that of the ancient Greek region of Locris. Today it is an important administrative and cultural centre on the Ionian Coast and within its province. Francesco Anile (born 12 February 1962 in Polistena) is an Italian tenor. He regularly sings in Italy and abroad, performing in theatres such as the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and San Carlo in Naples. ''Turandot'', ''Norma'' and ''Otello'' are some of the works of his repertory which he plays with more strength and character. In March 2009, he was Manrico in Verdi's ''Il trovatore'', and he has performed Canio in ''Pagliacci'', directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Biography Graduated in clarinet and singing at the "F. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. Francesco Jerace
Francesco Jerace (26 July 1853 – 18 January 1937) was an Italian sculptor. Biography He was born at Polistena in Calabria, in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. He trained locally under his grandfather, a sculptor, but moved to Naples where he frequented the Neapolitan Academy of Fine Arts under Tito Angelini. In 1878, he displayed sculptures of ''Eve and Lucifer'' and ''Guappatiello'' (Neapolitan Street Boy) in 1878 at the Neapolitan Exhibition. In 1880, he displayed sculptures of ''Victa'' (bust), ''Marion'', and the ''Legionnaires of Germanicus'' at the National Exhibition in Turin. The Legionnaire sculpture was interpreted by the critic Salazar as a response to the Hermannsdenkmal, then a recently erected monument in Germany to Arminius, the Germanic general that vanquished the Roman Varro in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.
