Prime Minister's Office (Australia)
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO), also known as the Office of the Prime Minister, is the private office of the Prime Minister of Australia that provides political advice and executive support to the Prime Minister. The PMO is led by the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff and or Principal Private Secretary and is composed of party advisers, media specialists, and political strategists. Scholars including Professor Anne Tiernan of Griffith University and Professor James Walter of Monash University have observed the centralisation and expansion of power within the PMO over the past three decades. Edmund Barton
Sir Edmund "Toby" Barton, (18 January 18497 January 1920) was an Australian politician and judge who served as the first prime minister of Australia from 1901 to 1903, holding office as the leader of the Protectionist Party. He resigned to become a founding member of the High Court of Australia, where he served until his death. Barton was an early supporter of the federation of the Australian colonies, the goal of which he summarised as "a nation for a continent, and a continent for a nation". After the retirement of Henry Parkes he came to be seen as the leader of the federation movement in New South Wales. He was a delegate to the constitutional conventions, playing a key role in the drafting of a national constitution, and was one of the lead campaigners for federation in the subsequent referendums. Grahame Morris
Grahame Mark Morris (born 13 March 1961) is a Labour Party (UK), British Labour Party politician. He was elected at the 2010 United Kingdom general election, 2010 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Easington (UK Parliament constituency), Easington, replacing Labour MP John Cummings (politician), John Cummings, who decided to step down. Allan Hawke
Allan Douglas Hawke (18 February 1948 – 31 August 2022) was Australian senior public servant and diplomat. During his public service career, Hawke served as Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Paul Keating; Secretary of the Department of Veterans' Affairs (1994–1996); Secretary of the Department of Transport and Regional Services (1996–1999); and Secretary of the Department of Defence (1999–2002). Hawke was then appointed High Commissioner to New Zealand (2003–2005), and subsequently Chancellor of the Australian National University (2006–2008). Don Russell
Dr Donald Russell is a former senior Australian public servant and administrator. He is currently the Chairman of AustralianSuper, Australia's largest superannuation fund. Dennis Richardson (diplomat)
Dennis James Richardson, (born 14 May 1947) is a retired Australian public servant and diplomat. His last appointment was as Secretary of the Department of Defence (2012–17). Background and career Richardson was keenly interested in current affairs as a boy. He attended the University of Sydney where he received a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (1965–68). He started his Australian Public Service career in the Department of External Affairs in 1969. His history supervisor had suggested he apply to the Department rather than continuing with plans to become a teacher. David Alexander Hollway is a former senior Australian public servant and policymaker. He retired from the Australian Public Service in 1996 to head the 2000 Summer Olympics. David Alistair Kemp (born 14 October 1941) is a retired Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1990 to October 2004, representing the Division of Goldstein, Victoria. Tony Eggleton
Anthony "Tony" Eggleton, AO, CVO (born 30 April 1932), is a former Federal Director of the Liberal Party of Australia. He first came to public prominence as the press secretary to the Prime Minister of Australia, Harold Holt, at the time of the latter's disappearance and presumed drowning in December 1967. Peter Stephen Wilenski, (10 May 1939 – 3 November 1994) was a senior Australian public servant and ambassador. He was a champion of women's rights and equal opportunity. Early life Peter Wilenski was born in Łódź, Poland on 10 May 1939. He came to Australia in 1943 as a Jewish refugee, due to World War II conflict and persecution of Jewish people in his home country.
