George Karl Ludwig Preuss (1803–1854), anglicized as Charles Preuss, was a surveyor and cartographer who accompanied John C. Fremont on three of his five exploratory expeditions of the American west, including the expedition where he and Fremont were the first to record seeing Lake Tahoe from a mountaintop vantage point as they traversed what is now Carson Pass in February 1844. Christoph Preuß (born 4 July 1981) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender or defensive midfielder. Career Preuß was born in Gießen, Hesse, and raised in the Hessian town of Linden. He played for local side TSV Großen-Linden, before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2005–06 season. In the 2006–07 campaign he was injured for almost the whole first half of the season. On 17 March 2007, he secured a 1–0 victory against Bayern Munich with a spectacular bicycle kick goal which earned Preuß the Goal of the Month award and finished second in the Goal of the Year poll. Hugo Preuß (Preuss) (28 October 1860 – 9 October 1925) was a German lawyer and liberal politician. He was the author of the draft version of the constitution that was passed by the Weimar National Assembly and came into force in August 1919. He based it on three principles: all political authority belongs to the people; that the state should be organized on a federal basis; and that the Reich should form a democratic Rechtsstaat (state based in law) within the international community. He is the author of numerous stand-alone novels as well as novels in ''Arthur C. Clarke's Venus Prime'' series, based upon incidents, characters, and places from Clarke's short stories. The Preuss's monkey (''Allochrocebus preussi''), also known as Preuss's guenon, is a diurnal primate that lives terrestrially in mountainous (up to 2500 m) forests of eastern Nigeria, western Cameroon and Bioko in Equatorial Guinea. It was formerly classified as a subspecies of the L'Hoest's monkey (''A. lhoesti''). Pruess's monkey is currently classified as a member of the genus ''Allochrocebus''. It was formerly considered a member of the genus ''Cercopithecus''. The diet of Preuss's monkey is primarily fruit, leaves and insects, although the species occasionally raids human crops. It is darkish in coloration with a white chin, and adult males have a blue scrotum. Preuss's monkeys weigh up to 10 kg.
