Presidential Management Staff (Philippines)
The Philippines' Presidential Management Staff is an agency attached to Malacañang that is tasked to manage the development and formulation of the projects and policies of the Office of the President. Though the PMS is headed by a Secretary, the Secretaries of the Cabinet, Chief of Staff, and Appointments, support the agency. The PMS, the Office of the Appointments Secretary and the newly created Events Management Cluster are under the supervision of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President. The position of the Presidential Management Staff is currently vacant, after the resignation of Zenaida Angping on December 2, 2022. The Presidential Communications Group, or simply the Communications Group, is the collective name for the offices within the Office of the President of the Philippines and refers to the position of the Office of the Press Secretary, formerly known as the Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). Rural electrification is the process of bringing electrical power to rural and remote areas. Rural communities are suffering from colossal market failures as the national grids fall short of their demand for electricity. As of 2017, over 1 billion people worldwide lack household electric power – 14% of the global population. Electrification typically begins in cities and towns and gradually extends to rural areas, however, this process often runs into obstacles in developing nations. Expanding the national grid is expensive and countries consistently lack the capital to grow their current infrastructure. Additionally, amortizing capital costs to reduce the unit cost of each hook-up is harder to do in lightly populated areas (yielding higher per capita share of the expense). Armand V. Fabella (21 April 1930 – 27 November 2008) was a Filipino businessman and educator. He served as Secretary of Education from 1992 to 1994. Fabella was born in Paris, France to Filipino parents. His father, Vicente K. Fabella, was the founder of Jose Rizal College (now Jose Rizal University). He earned a degree in economics from Harvard University and a master's in economics from Jose Rizal College, and also pursued post-graduate studies at the London School of Economics. In 1962, he was named as among the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines. Diosdado Pangan Macapagal Sr. (; September 28, 1910 – April 21, 1997) was a Filipino lawyer, poet and politician who served as the ninth president of the Philippines, serving from 1961 to 1965, and the sixth vice president, serving from 1957 to 1961. He also served as a member of the House of Representatives, and headed the Constitutional Convention of 1970.
