Prejudice (1988 Film)
''Prejudice'', working title ''Harassed'', is a 1989 television film about two women who go to the Anti-Discrimination Board. It was one of a series of TV movies about social issues made by Film Australia with the Nine Network.Ed. Ian Munro (director)
Ian Alexander Munro (born 1957/1958) is an Australian film and television director and producer. His career has spanned a variety of genres including telemovies, documentaries and children’s programs. Munro has also directed various performances for the stage. He was the first staff elected representative on the Board of Film Australia. Training Munro studied at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School where his final year film 'Life Begins at 40' won the Sammy Award for best TV Documentary. He graduated in 1980. Documentaries As a young filmmaker, Munro began making social documentaries, including the Logie winning series 'TV Specials with Michael Willesee' which were screened in Prime Time on Sunday nights. Film Australia was a company established by the Government of Australia to produce films about Australia in 1973. Its predecessors were the Cinema and Photographic Branch (1913–38), the Australian National Film Board (1939–1955, under different departments), and the Commonwealth Film Unit (1956–72). Film Australia became Film Australia Limited in 1988 and was consolidated into Screen Australia in 2008. Administration of the Film Australia Collection was transferred from Screen Australia to the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia on 1 July 2011. ''Filmnews'' was a monthly newspaper that covered independent film production, distribution and exhibition in Australia and the federal and state government policies and practices that supported them. Produced in Sydney, it was distributed around Australia, containing news, reviews, interviews, articles and some gossip on the local film community. It ran from February 1975, from government startup grants over 1973–74, to 1995. History ''Filmnews'' first issue appeared in February 1975. Published in St Peters' Lane, Darlinghurst, Filmnews began as a newsletter with screening and meeting information and catalogue of the Sydney Filmmakers Co-op. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984.
