Preemraff Lysekil
Preemraff Lysekil is an oil refinery located at Brofjorden near the Swedish city of Lysekil. Production Originally named Scanraff, the refinery was taken into use in 1975. The site was selected because of its excellent natural harbour, and the facility can accept supertankers up to . In 2003, the facility was acquired by Preem. Refined products are mainly transported from Preemraff Lysekil using tanker ships. There is no rail connection and the road connections are poor. Preem is the largest supplier of petroleum products in Sweden and its two refineries, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg, and Preemraff Lysekil in Lysekil represent 80 percent of Sweden's refining capacity. The annual capacity of Preemraff Lysekil is around 11 million metric tons of crude oil. The highly visible flares, towers and chimneys also makes the refinery a navigation mark for vessels entering Brofjorden. The two highest chimneys are tall. An oil refinery or petroleum refinery is an industrial process plant where petroleum (crude oil) is transformed and refined into useful products such as gasoline (petrol), diesel fuel, asphalt base, fuel oils, heating oil, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas and petroleum naphtha. Brofjorden
Brofjorden is a fjord in Lysekil Municipality, Bohuslän, Sweden. It cuts into Västra Götaland County in a southwest–northeasterly direction between the Stångenäset and Härnäset peninsulas. Situated between Gullmarn and Åbyfjorden, it is the smallest of these fjords. Brofjorden Port in the fjord is Sweden's largest oil port. History During the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, Brofjorden was navigable as far up north as Brodalen. The shoreline has receded about to the south since then. The area has been filled in with silt and clay, leaving only the minor Broälven river in the middle of the former north part of the fjord. Lysekil () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Lysekil Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had about 7,600 inhabitants in 2018. Situated on the south tip of Stångenäs peninsula at the mouth of Gullmarn fjord, it has two nature reserves. Preemraff Göteborg is an oil refinery in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Preem is the largest supplier of petroleum products in Sweden and its two refineries, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg and Preemraff Lysekil in Lysekil represent 80% of Sweden's refining capacity. The Gothenburg refinery is certified according to ISO 14001. The facility produces liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, diesel and heating oil for both the Swedish and foreign markets. Construction started in 1965 and refining started in 1967. Originally owned by BP, it was sold to OK Petroleum when BP decided to leave the Swedish market in 1991. In 1994, Sheik Mohammed Al Amoudi from Saudi Arabia bought OK Petroleum, and in 1996 changed the name to Preem Raffinaderi.
