Pre-Libertadores Tournament
The Pre-Libertadores tournament was an annual bi-national football competition held from 1998 to 2002, contested by teams from Venezuela and Mexico, that defined two teams qualified for the following year's Copa Libertadores (except for the first edition, which was played in the same year as the respective Copa Libertadores). The tournament was an initiative of Mexican promoters, close to the Mexican Football Federation and the Televisa company, who sought to get Mexican teams into CONMEBOL's top club competition. History In 1997, Grupo Pegaso (founded by Alejandro Burillo Azcárraga), through promoter Eduardo Aguirre, began talks with the Venezuelan league clubs and the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) to purchase the slots that corresponded to Venezuelan teams in the Copa Libertadores (2 direct slots at that time). Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club América or simply América, is a professional football club based in Mexico City. Club de Futbol Cruz Azul or simply Cruz Azul () is a professional football club based in Mexico City, Mexico. It competes in the Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football. Because "azul" means "blue" in Spanish, the club has traditionally worn a blue home kit. Founded in Jasso, Hidalgo, the club moved officially to Mexico City in 1971, where it had already registered a great presence and activity since its beginnings. Atlas F
The SM-65F Atlas, or Atlas-F, was the final operational variant of the Atlas missile, only differing from the Atlas E in the launch facility and guidance package used. It first flew on 8 August 1961, and was deployed as an operational ICBM between 1961 and 1966. Following retirement as an ICBM, the Atlas-F, along with the Atlas-E, was refurbished for orbital launches as the Atlas E/F. The Atlas E and F also differed in their launch facilities; Atlas E utilized the same coffin silos as Atlas D missiles, with the missile stored horizontally and raised upright for launch. Atlas F for comparison used a vertical silo with an elevator similar to the Titan I.
