Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary
Pranahita wildlife sanctuary is a protected area located in Mancherial district (Old Adilabad District) of Telangana State, India. This sanctuary is on the bank of Pranahita River, 35 km away from Mancherial town. It is famous for Blackbuck and over 20 species of reptiles, over 50 species of birds, over 40 species of mammals. History Pranahita was established on 13 March 1980, and covers an area of 136.02 km2. Pranahita is a southern tropical dry deciduous forests, with dry shrub jungle and grasslands. Visiting time Best time to visit the place is in November to April. There are forest rest house at Mancherial and Chennur. The air temperature varies from 15 to 40 degrees Celsius. Mancherial is a city and headquarters of the Mancherial district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is both the district and administrative headquarters of Mancherial mandal in the Mancherial revenue division. It is located on the north banks of the Godavari River. It is located about from the state capital, Hyderabad, from Karimnagar, from Nirmal and from Adilabad. Adilabad district is a district located in the northern region of Telangana, India. It is known as the gateway district to South and Central India. The town of Adilabad is its headquarters. Pranahita River
The Pranhita River is the largest tributary of Godavari River covering about 34% of its drainage basin conveying the combined waters of the Penganga River, the Wardha River, and the Wainganga River. By virtue of its extensive network of tributaries, the river drains a large part of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra, as well as the southern slopes of the Satpura Range in southeast Madhya Pradesh. Blackbuck
The blackbuck (''Antilope cervicapra''), also known as the Indian antelope, is an antelope native to India and Nepal. It inhabits grassy plains and lightly forested areas with perennial water sources. It stands up to high at the shoulder. Males weigh , with an average of . Females are lighter, weighing or on average. Males have long, ringed horns, though females may develop horns as well. The white fur on the chin and around the eyes is in sharp contrast with the black stripes on the face. The coats of males show a two-tone colouration; while the upper parts and outsides of the legs are dark brown to black, the underparts and the insides of the legs are white.
