Pradeep Rimal
Pradeep Rimal (1937–2015) was a Nepalese film director, lyricist, screenwriter and cultural anthropologist. He is best known for directing '' Silu'', the first Newar language film. In 1971, he won the Madan Puraskar for '' Karnali Lok Sanskriti''. He wrote lyrics for many songs among which 'Kasturi Ho Baas Aauncha Bhanchhan' and 'Yo Barsa Chhodi Malai...' were sung by Narayan Gopal. Biography Rimal was born in 1937 (15 Ashoj 1994 BS) in Lubhu village of Lalitpur District of Nepal to father Durga Parsad Rimal and mother Dilli Kumari Rimal. In 1996, he worked as an assistant director and musician for ''Maitighar''. He wrote the culture, music and arts related volume of the five–part ''Karnali Lok Sanskriti''. He received the Madan Puraskar for this work alongside Chudamani Bandhu, Bihari Krishna Shrestha, Sthirjunga Bahadur Singh and Satya Mohan Joshi in 1971. Lubhu, Lalitpur
Lubhu (Nepal Bhasa: लुभू) is a place that is part of Mahalaxmi Municipality in Bagmati Province of central Nepal. Lubhu is a sub-urban Newar place situated seven kilometers east of Kathmandu in northern part of Lalitpur, Nepal. Etymology There are interesting folklores explaining how Lubhu, which in Newari means “Golden Plate” got its name. It is believed that there was a homosexual resident who worshipped Maha Laksmi and Gobhrateshwar Mahadev to resolve his confused sexual orientation. After three years of devoted worship, the Gods were finally happy and granted the worshipper the body of a “complete man”. Knowing no bounds for his happiness upon this, the devotee is said to have offered both the deities plates made of gold, and hence named the place “Lunbhu”, meaning the same. Hijo Aaja Bholi
Hijo Aaja Bholi (a.k.a. Hijo, Aaja, Bholi) was the fourth Nepali film produced and the first under a private banner. This movie features Shreedhar Khanal, Bhuwan Chand, Mitra Lal, Shanti Maskey and Uttam Nepali in the lead roles. Shreedhar Khanal also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues. He was also the lyricist and the chief assistant director. When Hira Singh Khatri fell ill while shooting the major portions in the studios of Calcutta, Khanal took the responsibility on his shoulders to see the work was not disturbed. Maha Jodi
MaHa ( ne, मह जोडी) is the acronym of the comedy duo Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya of Nepal in Devanagari script. The acronym was coined by another contemporary comedian, Rajaram Paudel. MaHa is also renowned for trying to awaken society on social and political issues through their programs. Contributions MaHa's style is focused on creating awareness through laughter. They have also been involved in creating social activities and political freedom movements. Chuda Mani Regmi
Chuda Mani Upadhaya Regmi () is a Nepalese writer and linguist. He has published multiple books related to Nepali language. Early life and education Regmi was born on 11 March 1937 (29 Chaitra 1993) in Wana, Sankhuwasabha district in eastern region of Nepal to father Pitambar Regmi and mother Khileswari Devi. He completed his schooling in Sanskrit language. For his IA degree in Benaras, he continued his Sanskrit studies and studied BA at Mahendra College in Biratnagar. Literary career In 1968, he published the ''Nepali Bhashako Utpatti.'' Regmi, Satya Mohan Joshi, Pradip Rimal, Bihari Krishna Shrestha, and Sthirjunga Bahadur published '' Karnali Lok Sanskriti'' which won the Madan Puraskar, Nepal's highest literary honour. The prize money was divided among the authors. He played an active role in ''Jharro Andolan'', a Nepali language movement. He also taught at the Mechi Multiple Campus in Jhapa.
