"Potions" is a song by American DJ duo Slander and American electronic dance music producer Said the Sky, featuring singer-songwriter JT Roach. It was released on May 31, 2019, by Canadian record label Monstercat and was later included on their compilation album ''Monstercat Instinct, Vol. 4''. Background and release "Potions" debuted at the Crush Arizona music festival in mid-February 2019. On May 24, 2019, both Slander and Said the Sky individually announced the release date for the song and its accompanying music video, with the song's release date being announced as May 31 and its music video a day earlier, on May 30. On May 31, 2019, the song was released as a digital download on international digital stores through Canadian record label Monstercat, as well as being released through various music streaming services. Slander (stylized as SLANDER) is an American DJ duo consisting of Derek Andersen and Scott Land based in Los Angeles. They are best known for their unique sound and subgenre "heaven trap". They attribute most of their success to their close friend Nathaniel Bates, who they say “single handedly gave them the inspiration and confidence to become full time DJ’s”. Early life Andersen and Land met at their fraternity, Kappa Sigma, in University of California, Irvine. They later went to and graduated from Icon Collective, a music production school together with Nghtmre. Andersen said: "My relationship with Tyler (Nghtmre) came out of nowhere when we were put in the same classroom at Icon Collective together." Genius is an American digital media company founded on August 27, 2009, by Tom Lehman, Ilan Zechory, and Mahbod Moghadam. The site allows users to provide annotations and interpretation to song lyrics, news stories, sources, poetry, and documents. Originally launched as Rap Genius with a focus on hip-hop music, the company attracted the attention and support of celebrities, and venture capital enabling further growth. Trevor Christensen (born 12 May 1993), known professionally as Said the Sky, is an American electronic dance music producer, DJ and musician. Early life At the age of 8, Christensen went for piano lessons which he had disliked. He quit the lessons after several years but later rejoined it while he was in middle school, along picking up other instruments to learn. He first got into electronic dance music by learning about the production at a Digital Audio Production class in high school. Christensen uses Ableton Live to produce music.
