Potential Getaway Driver is an independent record label that began in the winter of 2005. It was originally based between Flint, Michigan and Saginaw, Michigan and is now based between Flint and Chicago. The label's name is a reference from the film '' Bottle Rocket''. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Indies release rock, soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, hip hop, and world music. Flint, Michigan
Flint is the largest city and seat of Genesee County, Michigan, United States. Located along the Flint River, northwest of Detroit, it is a principal city within the region known as Mid Michigan. Saginaw () is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the seat of Saginaw County. The city of Saginaw and Saginaw County are both in the area known as Mid-Michigan. ''Bottle Rocket'' is a 1996 American crime comedy film directed by Wes Anderson in his feature film directorial debut. The film is written by Anderson and Owen Wilson and is based on Anderson's 1994 short film of the same name. ''Bottle Rocket'' is also the acting debut for brothers Owen and Luke Wilson, who co-starred with Robert Musgrave, their older brother Andrew Wilson, Lumi Cavazos, and James Caan. Anathallo
Anathallo was a band originally from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and then based in Chicago, Illinois. The band started practicing in the fall of 2000 and played their first show soon afterward. Their name is derived from a Greek word meaning "to renew, refresh or bloom again." Anathallo released '' Floating World'', their first nationally distributed record, in 2006 through Sony/BMG. The band released a follow-up, entitled ''Canopy Glow'', on Anticon in 2008. History Anathallo was formed in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, in 2000. Tristeza is an American post-rock band. The band is currently based in Oakland, California, and was established in San Diego in 1997. Biography The group formed in San Diego in 1997, and included Christopher Sprague, Luis Hermosillo, Jimmy LaValle (The Album Leaf), James Lehner, and Stephen Swesey. This line-up recorded all material that was released through 2003, including the albums ''Spine and Sensory'' (1999) and ''Dream Signals in Full Circles'' (2000). The ''Spine and Sensory'' album was recorded at Tim Green's Louder Studios, a basement studio in San Francisco. It took one week to record and mix the album in the Autumn of 1998. Green has since left San Francisco and moved his studio to Grass Valley, California. In January 2003, Tristeza played its last concert with Jimmy LaValle as a main member, but he has joined the band occasionally since.
