Posai Sitiboonlert ( th, โพธิ์ไทร สิทธิบุญเลิศ); is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. Biography and career Prayong Makkong started Muay Thai at the age of 13 at the Kor Srimongkon Gym where he took the name "Posai Saktuanchai". Posai trained for three years before he started competing and won his first 20 fights, fighting in the provinces of Lopburi, Nakhon Sawan and Chainat. Based on this success he was brought to the Sitiboonlert gym. Posai reached his peak in the second half of the 1970s, being considered as an elite fighter from 1975 as he went undefeated during that year. The apex of his career being the year 1977 where his domination led to the organisation of handicap fights where he had to take on multiple fighters in one night without a break. Payap Premchai ( th, พายัพ เปรมชัย); is a retired Thai Muay Thai fighter. Biography and career Payap started training in Muay Thai at the age of 14 and had about 40 fights in various provinces before making his debut at the Lumpinee Stadium in 1975. In the late 1970s Payap emerged as a top fighter of the Bangkok circuit with an incredibly powerful left kick. in 1979 he defeated a first legend in Pudpadnoi Worawut, he then became the most dominant fighter of Thailand in the higher weights in the early 1980s. During his career he captured the Rajadamnern Stadium 147 lbs in 1986 and defeated notable fighters of his era such as Sagat Petchyindee, Lakchart Sor.Prasatporn, Posai Sitiboonlert, Somsong Kiathoranee, Krongsak Sakkasem or Samart Prasarnmit. This is a list of highly notable Muay Thai practitioners (also known as nak muay). Legend * Nai Khanomtom (circa 1700s) - a legendary Thai soldier and boxer during the era of the Ayutthaya Kingdom who become known as the founder of Muay Thai. Khanomtom lived during the Second Burmese War (1765–1767). At that time, the Ayutthaya Kingdom was losing its long-running conflict with the Konbaung dynasty. In 1767, the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom fell, and Khanomtom was one of the warriors who were captured and sent as a captive to the King of Burma. After seven years of captivity, King Mangra wanted to see how Thai fighters would compare to his fighters. Khanomtom was selected to fight against the King's chosen champion and the boxing ring was set up in front of the throne. Rajadamnern Stadium ( th, สนามมวยราชดำเนิน; ), also spelled ''Ratchadamnoen'', is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Rajadamnern is one of the two main stadiums for modern muay Thai. It hosts fights every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The stadium has its own ranking system and championship titles up to middleweight (160 lbs). Vicharnnoi Porntawee ( th, วิชาญน้อย พรทวี; January 25, 1948 – January 31, 2022) was a Thai Muay Thai kickboxer who competed in the 1970s. He was recognized as one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time. Life and career Vicharnnoi (or Wichannoi) was born in 1948, he grew up in the Nonthaburi province of Thailand where he started Muay Thai training around the age of 12. His first fights were for the Srimuangnon camp; he used the ring names "Vicharnnoi Luktalatkwan" and "Vicharnnoi Srimuangnon" (วิชาญน้อย ศรีเมืองนนท์) during that period. Lumpinee Stadium
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium ( th, สนามเวทีมวยลุมพินี) is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The stadium is named after Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. Opened more than a decade later than Rajadamnern Stadium, Lumpinee is run by the Royal Thai Army. It has become the symbol of modern Muay Thai. Only Rajadamnern Stadium rivals the prestige of holding the title of "Muay Thai Champion of Lumpinee". The ranking system and championship titles are held from mini flyweight (105 lb) up to super welterweight (154 lb). Muay Thai bouts are held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Padejsuk Pitsanurachan ( th, เผด็จศึก พิษณุราชันย์); is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed at the highest level of Muay Thai in the late 1970s. He was the 1979 King's Muay Thai Fighter of the Year. Biography and career Khamsej started Muay Thai at the age of 14, fighting under the name Seisuk Kwanjaithungmon. He had about 40 fights in various provinces accumulating wins agasint future champion such as Lom-Isan Sor.Thanikul, Nanfah Seeharajdesho and Nokweed Davy.
