Portland Queer Comedy Festival
The Portland Queer Comedy Festival is an annual five-day comedy festival that takes place in Portland, Oregon. Multiple venues are used throughout the festival's stretch, and upwards of 50 comedians perform. Comics such as Bruce Villanch, Irene Tu, Mary Jane French, Danielle Radford, Guy Branum, Jeffery Jay, Corina Lucas, Scott Thompson, and James Adomian have participated. Drag queens such as Valerie DeVille and Bolivia Carmicheals have hosted bingo games as part of the fest. Background The festival was founded in 2017 by comedian Belinda Carroll and entertainment venue owner Andy Barrett, both queer activists. Bruce Villanch
Bruce Gerald Vilanch (born November 23, 1948) is an American comedy writer, songwriter and actor. He is a two-time Emmy Award-winner. Vilanch is best known to the public for his four-year stint on ''Hollywood Squares'', as a celebrity participant; behind the scenes he was head writer for the show. In 2000, he performed off-Broadway in his self-penned one-man show, ''Bruce Vilanch: Almost Famous''. From 2000 to 2014, Vilanch was the head writer for the Oscars, after being an Oscar program co-writer for the previous ten years. He is a featured writer for the Tonys, Grammys, and Emmys. She has appeared at comedy festivals such as SF Sketchfest, the Portland Queer Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and Comedy Central's Clusterfest, and on shows such as '' Take My Wife'' and '' Funny How?'' Scott Thompson (comedian)
Scott Thompson (born June 12, 1959) is a Canadian comedian and actor, best known for being a member of the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall and for playing Brian on ''The Larry Sanders Show''. Early life Thompson, born John Scott Thompson, named after his uncle and later changed for the stage, was born in North Bay, Ontario, and grew up in Brampton. He is the second oldest of five boys. He attended Brampton Centennial Secondary School and was a witness to the 1975 Centennial Secondary School shooting. James Adomian (born January 31, 1980) is an Armenian-American stand-up comedian, actor, and impressionist. He is best known for his work on ''Comedy Bang! Belinda Carroll (comedian)
Belinda Carroll is an American standup comedian, writer, activist, actress, and singer. She is the founder of the Portland Queer Comedy Festival, organizer of the Portland Dyke March, and is a co-organizer as well as date auction host and fundraiser emcee of the Butch Voices Portland Regional Conference. At age 22, Carroll held a Miss Leather title. She performs annually at Portland Pride and in 2013, was named a finalist in the ''Advocate's'' Stand Out: The National Queer Comedy Search. In 2016, Carroll began working as a tour guide for Know Your City's "Pride Forever: LGBTQ History Tour." She performs annually at Portland's Slut Walk. Drag Bingo
In the United States, bingo is a game of chance in which each player matches the numbers printed in different arrangements on cards. The game host (caller) draws at random, marking the selected numbers with tiles. When a player finds the selected numbers are arranged on their card in a row, they call out "Bingo!" to alert all participants to a winning card, which prompts the game host (or an associate assisting the host) to examine the card for verification of the win.
