''Porsgrunds Blad'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Porsgrunn in Telemark county first established on the 1 May 1846 as ''Ugeblad for Porsgrund og Omegn'', initially apolitical, it became conservative-leaning, facing competition from the more clear-cut conservative newspaper, '' Grenmar''. After a short time ''Porsgrunds Blad'' tried a liberal agenda, it went defunct in 1886 and was absorbed by ''Grenmar''. Its last issue was printed on 31 March 1886. History ''Ugeblad for Porsgrund og Omegn'' was started as a weekly newspaper on 1 May 1846. It struggled economically, and was auctioned in late 1848. From 4 January 1849 its name was ''Posttidende'' ("Postal Times"), from 1858 ''Porsgrunds Blad''. Porsgrunn
is a city and municipality in Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark in Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Grenland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Porsgrunn. The municipality of Porsgrunn was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The town of Brevik and the rural district of Eidanger were merged into the municipality of Porsgrunn on 1 January 1964. The conurbation of Porsgrunn and Skien is considered by Statistics Norway to be the seventh-largest city in Norway. Telemark
Telemark is a traditional region, a former county, and a current electoral district in southern Norway. In 2020, Telemark merged with the former county of Vestfold to form the county of Vestfold og Telemark. Telemark borders the traditional regions and former counties of Vestfold, Buskerud, Hordaland, Rogaland and Aust-Agder. The name ''Telemark'' means the "mark of the Thelir", the ancient North Germanic tribe that inhabited what is now known as Upper Telemark in the Migration Period and the Viking Age. ''Grenmar'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Porsgrunn in Telemark county. History and profile ''Grenmar'' was started on 3 January 1878, after two trial issues in December 1877. It absorbed the much older newspaper ''Porsgrunds Blad'' in 1886 (and was named ''Grenmar Porsgrunds Blad'' for a while), and then ''Telefon'' which existed only from 1889 to 1890. ''Grenmar'', which was conservative, got a liberal competitor in '' Porsgrunds Dagblad'' in 1914. The newspaper stopped in April 1931. ''Norsk presses historie 1660–2010'' is a four-volume work about the press media history of Norway. It was published in April 2010 by Universitetsforlaget, and was the first book of its kind in Norway. Structure and production Hans Fredrik Dahl was the superior editor of all four volumes. The first volume, ''En samfunnsmakt blir til. 1660–1880'' was edited by Martin Eide. The second volume, ''Presse, parti og publikum. 1880–1945'' was edited by Rune Ottosen. The third volume, ''Imperiet vakler. 1945–2010'' was edited by Guri Hjeltnes. The fourth volume, ''Norske aviser fra A til Å'' was edited by Idar Flo. While the first three volumes are written in regular prose, the fourth volume is more of an encyclopedia with about 400 "newspaper biographies". Mass is an intrinsic property of a body. It was traditionally believed to be related to the quantity of matter in a physical body, until the discovery of the atom and particle physics. It was found that different atoms and different elementary particles, theoretically with the same amount of matter, have nonetheless different masses.
