The neighboring municipalities are Askola in the east, Mäntsälä in the north, Porvoo in the southeast and Sipoo in the southwest. It is located east of the town of Järvenpää. Kirveskoski
Kirveskoski (; officially ''Pornainen'' or ''Pornainen church village'') is a village of about 2000 inhabitants in Pornainen, Uusimaa, Finland, and the administrative center of the municipality. Next to the church village is the River Mustijoki (''Karjakoski'' by the village), which runs south to Porvoo and from there to the Gulf of Finland. It is 20 kilometers from Kirveskoski to Järvenpää, 15 kilometers to Sipoo's administrative center Nikkilä, 24 kilometers to Porvoo, 17 kilometers to Askola and 22 kilometers to Mäntsälä. From the northern part of Kirveskoski, regional road 146 runs west to Järvenpää and regional road 151 east to Askola's village Monninkylä, while there is a connecting road 1494, which extends south to Nikkilä and north to the national road 25 between Hanko ja Mäntsälä. Halkia ( sv, Halkis) is a village of 400 inhabitants in the northern part of Pornainen municipality in Uusimaa, Finland, near the border of Mäntsälä municipality. It is only a few kilometers south of Halkia to the center of the municipality, Kirveskoski. Juhani Aho
Juhani Aho, originally Johannes Brofeldt (11 September 1861 – 8 August 1921), was a Finnish author and journalist. He was nominated for the Nobel prize in literature twelve times. Early life Juhani Aho was born at Lapinlahti in 1861. His parents were Henrik Gustaf Theodor Brofeldt and Karolina Fredrika Emelie "Emma" Brofeldt (née Snellman). The Brofeldts were a priestly family: Theodor was a relatively well-known revivalist preacher whose sermons were published in 1917 as ''Rovasti H. G. Th. Brofeldtin saarnoja'' and his father had been a chaplain and his grandfather a vicar. Mika Toimi Waltari (; 19 September 1908 – 26 August 1979) was a Finnish writer, best known for his best-selling novel ''The Egyptian'' ( fi, Sinuhe egyptiläinen). He was extremely productive. Southern Finland

Järvenpää (; sv, Träskända) is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located on the Helsinki–Riihimäki railway track in Uusimaa region, some north of Helsinki.
