Pont Du Garigliano
The Pont du Garigliano is a bridge across the Seine in Paris. Location and construction The Pont du Garigliano links Boulevard Martial-Valin in the quartier de Javel (15th arrondissement), to Boulevard Exelmans in the Auteuil quartier ( 16th arrondissement). It is a metal bridge made of three spans (of 58m, 93m and 58m) soldered to six beams and carried on only two piles, close to the river banks. It spans roadways on both banks before reaching the ground. It is the highest bridge in Paris, at 11 metres above the level of the Seine (making it a popular place for suicides, such as that of Boris Fraenkel). It is very close to the studios of France Télévision, and to the Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou. Alphonse Pierre Juin (16 December 1888 – 27 January 1967) was a senior French Army Army general (France), general who became Marshal of France. A graduate of the École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, École Spéciale Militaire class of 1912, he served in French protectorate in Morocco, Morocco in 1914 in command of native troops. Boulevards Of The Marshals
The Boulevards of the Marshals (french: link=no, Boulevards des Maréchaux) are a collection of thoroughfares that encircle the city of Paris, France, just inside its city limits. Most bear the name of a marshal of the First French Empire (1804–1814) who served under Napoleon I. The Île-de-France tramway Lines 3a and 3b today run on the Boulevards of the Marshals. The demolition of the Thiers wall during the 1920s allowed for the creation of this ring of boulevards surrounding the city, using the land just inside the wall itself. Chemin De Fer De Petite Ceinture
Paris' former Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture ('small(er) belt railway'), also colloquially known as ''La Petite Ceinture'', was a circular railway built as a means to supply the city's fortification walls, and as a means of transporting merchandise and passengers between Paris' major rail-company stations. Beginning as two distinct 'Ceinture Syndicate' freight and 'Paris-Auteuil' passenger lines from 1851, these lines formed an arc that surrounded the northern two thirds of Paris, an arc that would become a full circle of rail around the capital when its third Ceinture Rive Gauche section was built in 1867. RER C
RER C is one of the five lines in the Réseau Express Régional (English: Regional Express Network), a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris, France and its suburbs. The line crosses the region from north to south. The line runs from the northern termini Pontoise (C1), Versailles-Château-Rive-Gauche (C5) and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (C7) to the southern termini Massy-Palaiseau (C2), Dourdan-la-Forêt (C4), Saint-Martin d'Étampes (C6) and Versailles-Chantiers (C8). The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France, suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops. Paris Métro Line 8 ( French: ''Ligne 8 du métro de Paris'') is one of the sixteen lines of the Paris Métro. It connects Balard in the southwestern part of Paris to Pointe du Lac station in the southeastern suburbs, following a parabolic route on the Rive Droite of the Seine. The last line of the original 1898 Paris Métro plan, which opened in July 1913, it was initially intended to link Porte d'Auteuil and Opéra. Balard (Paris Métro)
Balard () is the southwestern terminus of Line 8 of the Paris Métro. Since 2006, it has also been a stop on Île-de-France tramway Line 3a. Situated in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, it serves Parc André Citroën, as well as the Site Balard of the Ministry of the Armies. History The station was opened on 27 July 1937 as part of the extension of Line 8 from La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle. Paris Métro Line 9 is one of 16 lines of the Paris Métro. The line links Pont de Sèvres in Boulogne in the west with Mairie de Montreuil in the east via the city center of Paris, creating a parabola type shape to its route. Exelmans (Paris Métro)
Exelmans () is a station on line 9 of the Paris Métro. It owes its name to its proximity to boulevard Exelmans, which was in turn named after Rémi Joseph Isidore Exelmans (1775-1852), a general of Napoleon's cavalry. History The station opened on 8 November 1922 with the opening of the initial section of the line from Trocadéro and served as its eastern terminus until the line was further extended to Porte de Saint-Cloud the following year. As part of the "Renouveau du métro" programme by the RATP, the station's corridors was renovated and modernised on 11 December 2007.
