DuPont de Nemours, Inc., commonly shortened to DuPont, is an American multinational chemical company first formed in 1802 by French-American chemist and industrialist Éleuthère Irénée du Pont de Nemours. The company played a major role in the development of Delaware and first arose as a major supplier of gunpowder. Graham Laidler
Graham Laidler (4 July 1908 – 23 November 1940) was a British cartoonist, noted for his work in ''Punch'' magazine in the 1930s. He signed his name as "pont", short for a nickname, ''Pontifex Maximus''. Life Laidler was born on 4 July 1908 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England at 6 Osborne Avenue, Jesmond. His father, George Gavin Laidler, owner of a painting and decorating business, died when Laidler was 13 and his mother, Kathleen née Crosby, eventually the family moved south, finally settling in Jordans in Buckinghamshire. Laidler had always hoped to become a cartoonist but, to ensure an income that would adequately support himself and his widowed mother, he enrolled at the London School of Architecture in 1926. After being diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1932, he was unable to continue with an office-based career and started to concentrate on his cartoons. He lived in Austria for some time for his health in the 1930s, returning to Britain following the Anschluss in 1938. ...

Ponteland
Ponteland ( ) is a large village and civil parish in Northumberland, England, north of Newcastle upon Tyne. The name means "island in the Pont", after the River Pont which flows from west to east and joins the River Blyth further downstream, before flowing into the North Sea. Newcastle Airport is to the south of the village. Ponteland was first built on marshland near St Mary's Church and the old bridge. Most of the marshland has now been drained to make way for housing. In the industrial era, Ponteland village enlarged to include residential developments in Darras Hall. The village has grown to be a significant commuter village, although it retains a local community.
