Pom Poko is a Norwegian post punk band from Oslo, Norway. The band was formed in 2017 and quickly gained a reputation for their live shows, earning them a spot on NME's "100 Bands to Watch" list in 2018. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the production techniques of dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, cinema and literature. Bella Union
Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. It is now run solely by Raymonde. History After releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career, Cocteau Twins decided to start up the Bella Union record label in 1997, through which they could release their own work as well as any collaborative efforts. The band split up not long after, but instead of letting the newly formed label go under, Robin Guthrie, Simon Raymonde and their former manager Fiona Glyn-Jones decided to take charge of it. ''Cheater'' is the second studio album by Norwegian post-punk band Pom Poko. The album was originally scheduled for release on 6 November 2020, but was moved to 15 January 2021. Release On 18 August 2020, Pom Poko announced the release of their second studio album, originally scheduled for release on 6 November 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the album's release date was moved to 15 January 2021. Singles Pom Poko released the first single from the album, "Andrew" on 18 August 2020. On 15 September 2020, Pom Poko released the second single "My Candidacy". In a press release, the band explained the meaning of the song: "The song itself is about the wish to be able to believe in unconditional love, even though you know that there probably is no such thing. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses.
