Polmak (municipality)
Polmak is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1903 until its dissolution in 1964. The administrative centre was the village of Polmak where Polmak Church is located. The municipality of Polmak stretched along the northern shore of the Tana River (Norway), Tana River (which also forms the border with Finland) from the little village of Leavvajohka in the west to the village of Polmak in the east and then it continues on both sides of the Tana River (Norway), Tana River northwards to the Tana Bridge. Tana River (Norway)
The Tana ( fi, Teno or ; sme, Deatnu ; no, Tana/Tanaelva; sv, Tana älv) is a long river in the Sápmi area of northern Fennoscandia. The river flows through Troms og Finnmark county, Norway and the Lapland region of Finland. The Sámi name means "Great River". The main tributaries of Tana are Anarjohka and Karasjohka. Geography In its upper course it runs for along the Finnish–Norwegian border, between the municipalities of Utsjoki, Finland and Karasjok and Tana, Norway. The river is the fifth longest in Norway. The last of the river run through the municipality of Tana in Norway. The river discharges into the Tanafjorden, one of the largest and most unspoiled river deltas in Europe. Former Municipalities Of Norway
This is a list of former municipalities of Norway, i.e. municipalities that no longer exist. When the local council system was introduced in Norway in 1837-38, the country had 392 municipalities. In 1958 the number had grown to a total of 744 rural municipalities, 64 city municipalities as well as a small number of small seaports with '' ladested'' status. A committee led by Nikolai Schei, formed in 1946 to examine the situation, proposed hundreds of mergers to reduce the number of municipalities and improve the quality of local administration. Most of the mergers were carried out, albeit to significant popular protest. As of January 2006 there are 431 municipalities in Norway, and there are plans for further mergers and political pressure to do so. Tana Municipality
or is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Tana bru. Among the other villages in the municipality are Austertana, Bonakas, Polmak, Rustefjelbma, and Skiippagurra. The municipality is the 5th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Deatnu-Tana is the 236th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,821. The Schei Committee ( no, Schei-komitéen) was a committee named by the Government of Norway to look into the organization of municipalities in Norway post-World War II. It convened in 1946, and its formal name was (The 1946 Committee on Municipal Division). Its more commonly used name derives from the committee leader, Nikolai Schei Nikolai Andreas Schei (9 May 1901 – 25 May 1985) was a Norwegian jurist and civil servant. The Tana Bridge ( no, Tana bru) is a bridge that crosses the Tana River in Troms og Finnmark, Norway. It is located in a village also called ''Tana bru''. The bridge was opened for traffic on 15 September 2020. It is a 260 meter long cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 234 meters. It is the only bridge over the lowest 100 km of the Tana River. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
