Politics Of Sichuan
The politics of Sichuan Province in the People's Republic of China is structured in a dual party-government system like all other governing institutions in mainland China. The Governor of Sichuan is the highest-ranking official in the People's Government of Sichuan. However, in the province's dual party-government governing system, the Governor has less power than the Sichuan Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Provincial Committee Secretary, colloquially termed the "Sichuan CCP Party Chief". Sichuan
Sichuan (; zh, c=, labels=no, ; zh, p=Sìchuān; alternatively romanized as Szechuan or Szechwan; formerly also referred to as "West China" or "Western China" by Protestant missions) is a province in Southwest China occupying most of the Sichuan Basin and the easternmost part of the Tibetan Plateau between the Jinsha River on the west, the Daba Mountains in the north and the Yungui Plateau to the south. Sichuan's capital city is Chengdu. The population of Sichuan stands at 83 million. Sichuan neighbors Qinghai to the northwest, Gansu to the north, Shaanxi to the northeast, Chongqing to the east, Guizhou to the southeast, Yunnan to the south, and the Tibet Autonomous Region to the west. In antiquity, Sichuan was the home of the ancient states of Ba and Shu. Their conquest by Qin strengthened it and paved the way for Qin Shi Huang's unification of China under the Qin dynasty. Wang Dongming
Wang Dongming (; born July 1956) is a Chinese politician who has served since 2018 as the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Originally from Liaoning province, Wang served as the chief of the General Office of the Central Institutional Organization Commission between 2007 and 2012, and the Communist Party Secretary of Sichuan province between 2012 and 2018. Career Wang was born in Benxi, Liaoning province in 1956. He took part in rural manual labour in Huanren County, Liaoning in the latter stages of the Cultural Revolution. Yin Li (politician)
Yin Li (; born August 1962) is a Chinese politician and former public health official, who currently serves as the Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary, Communist Party secretary of Beijing and a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party. Wei Hong
Wei Hong (; born May 1954) is a Chinese politician who served as the Governor of Sichuan province between 2013 and 2016. Prior to his assuming the post of governor, he served as vice governor and head of the party Organization Department in Sichuan province. He resigned as governor in 2016 following a party investigation into his conduct. Rise to power Wei Hong was born in Yinan County, Shandong province. Jiang Jufeng
Jiang Jufeng (; born 1948) is a Chinese politician. He served as the Governor of Sichuan from 2007 to 2013. Jiang was born in 1948 in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Fudan University in 1982 and the same year joined the Chinese Communist Party. From June 1998 to March 2002 he served as a secretary for CPC's Wenzhou City Party Committee in Zhejiang. As of January 23, 2017, Jufeng is a Governor of Sichuan Province, which he became after he succeeded longtime Governor Zhang Zhongwei, who was in office from June 1999 to January 2007. Zhang Zhongwei
Zhang Zhongwei (; born February 1942) is a retired politician of the People's Republic of China. He served as Governor of Sichuan province from 1999 to 2007. Biography Zhang Zhongwei was born in February 1942 in Guan County (now Dujiangyan City), Sichuan province. He entered the work force in June 1956 as an accountant in his native Guan County and joined the Chinese Communist Party in September 1960. Starting in 1959 Zhang worked for the government of Guan County, Wenjiang prefecture, and Peng County, all in Sichuan. From 1983 to 1987 he was a standing committee member of the Communist Party Chengdu committee. Song Baorui
Song Baorui (; December 1937 – 20 September 2022) was a politician of the People's Republic of China. He served as Governor of Sichuan province from 1996 to 1999. Biography Song Baorui was a native of Shunyi County (now Shunyi District), Beijing. He was born in December 1937 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in December 1958. From 1957 to 1963 he studied metallurgy at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and completed a graduate program at the metallurgy department of Tsinghua in 1966. Jiang Minkuan
Jiang Minkuan (; May 1930 – 6 June 2012) was a politician and engineer of the People's Republic of China. He served as Governor of Sichuan province, deputy director of the State Science and Technology Commission, and deputy head of the United Front Work Department. Biography Jiang Minkuan was a native of Wu County (now part of Suzhou), Jiangsu province. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in June 1961. Starting in 1950 he worked as an engineer in the non-ferrous metal industry in Northeast China. In 1952 he studied Russian in Fushun, Liaoning province, and later trained and worked at an aluminium factory in the Ural region of the Soviet Union. Yang Xizong
Yang Xizong (; September 1928 – 21 July 2007) was a politician of the People's Republic of China. He served as Communist Party Chief of Henan province and Governor of Sichuan province. Biography Yang Xizong was born in 1928 in Dayi County, Sichuan province. As a student at Sichuan University during the 1940s he participated in revolutionary activities organized by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He joined the CCP in September 1952. Lu Dadong
Lu Dadong (; 1915 – 28 August 1998) was a communist revolutionary and politician of the People's Republic of China. He served as Communist Party Chief of Chongqing city and Governor of Sichuan province. Biography Lu Dadong was a native of Guantao County, Hebei province. He joined the communist revolution in 1937 and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1938. In 1943 Lu studied at the Central Party School of the CCP in Yan'an.
