Polish American Football Association
The Polish American Football Association or shortly PZFA ( pl, Stowarzyszenie Polski Związek Futbolu Amerykańskiego) is the national American football association in Poland and was founded in November 2004. The PZFA is a full member of the International and European federations. History The PZFA was created in November 2004, initiated by the first two American football teams: Warsaw Eagles and 1. KFA Wielkopolska (now Fireballs Wielkopolska). Its founding, was a response to the dynamic growth of the American football movement in Poland. In October 2006, Eagles, Fireballs, Pomorze Seahawks and The Crew Wrocław, create the Polish American Football League (PLFA). Short season was won by the Eagles who beat the Seahawks in the Polish Bowl I. The second league, PLFA II, was created in the 2008 PLFA season. International Federation Of American Football
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) is the international governing body of gridiron associations. The IFAF oversees the IFAF World Championship of American Football, which is held every four years. The IFAF became a provisionary member of SportAccord in 2003, and became a full SportAccord member in 2005. The organisation's head office is located in the French commune of La Courneuve, in the Île-de-France region. 2012 PLFA Season
The 2012 season of the Polish American Football League was the seventh season played by the american football leagues in Poland. In 2012, the Topliga was created as a major league with a bid (invitation) rule. Remaining teams was divided into two leagues (PLFA I and PLFA II) between which there is promotion and relegation. Both, PLFA I and PLFA II, was divided into two divisions, for the geographical reason. Regular season of the Topliga took place between March 24 and June 17, 2012. The Polish champion was determined in the play-off final - the VII SuperFinal PLFA (known as the Polish Bowl VII). The Seahawks Gdynia beat the Warsaw Eagles in the championship game 52–37 hosted at the National Stadium in Warsaw. Eight-man Football
Eight-man football is a form of gridiron football, generally played by high schools with smaller enrollments. Eight-man football differs from the traditional 11-man game with the reduction of three players on each side of the ball and a field width that can be reduced to 40 yards, 13 1/3 yards narrower than the 53 1/3-yard 11-man field. Most states continue to play on a field 100 yards long, whereas a few states opt for 80-yard lengths. Reduced-player football, which consists of eight-man, six-man, and nine-man football has gained popularity across the United States. As of 2015, 1,561 schools in 30 states sponsor reduced-player football, with 1,161 of those teams participating in eight-man leagues, whereas 284 teams play six-man football and 116 teams play nine-man football. 2011 PLFA Season
The 2011 season of the Polish American Football League (PLFA I) was the 6th season played by the major american football league in Poland. It was the first time that the PLFA I consisted of ten teams. The regular season took place between April 2 and June 19, 2011. The Polish champion was determined in the play-off final; the VI SuperFinal PLFA (known as the Polish Bowl VI). The Crew Wrocław (last year runner-up) beat the defending champion Devils Wrocław 27–26. The championship game was broadcast live on Sportklub channel, as a first PLFA game ever. The 2008 season of the Polish American Football League (PLFA I) was the 3rd season played by the major american football league in Poland. Regular season play was held from March 29 to September 28, 2008.
