Poland In The Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song " In the Name of Love" written by Kuba Raczyński and Monika Kuszyńska. The song was performed by Monika Kuszyńska. In March 2015, the Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) announced that the Polish entry for the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria would be selected through an internal selection. Kuszyńska and the song "In the Name of Love" were announced as the Polish entry on 9 March 2015 during the TVP1 programme ''Świat się kręci''. Poland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 21 May 2015. Performing as the closing entry during the show in position 17, "In the Name of Love" was announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 23 May. Monika Kuszyńska
Monika Kuszyńska (born 14 January 1980) is a Polish singer and songwriter. She represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song " In the Name of Love" and was previously the lead singer of the Polish pop rock band Varius Manx. Life and career Kuszyńska entered the Polish music scene in 2000, when she was selected as the new vocalist of the Polish pop rock band Varius Manx, replacing Kasia Stankiewicz. In 2001, she released her first album with the band, titled ''Eta''. The following year, she released her second album with them titled ''Eno''. On 28 May 2006, Kuszyńska along with the other band members of Varius Manx were involved in a serious car accident in Milicz. The accident resulted in Kuszyńska becoming partially paralyzed from the waist down and having to use a wheelchair. Donatan
Donatan, (born Witold Marek Czamara on 2 September 1984 in Kraków) is a Polish musician, music producer and sound engineer. Donatan along with Teka co-created RafPak. Life and career Donatan was born to a Russian mother and Polish father. He began producing music in 2002, with his debut album "Brudne południe", released in 2007. For eight years Donatan lived in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, Russia, and has been married since 2004. Donatan is a self-declared adherent of Slavic Native Faith and has often been criticized for allegedly preaching pan-Slavism, paganism, satanism, recommending the Red Army, and promoting communist symbols including the hammer and sickle. Edsilia Rombley
Edsilia Francisca Rombley (born 13 February 1978) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. She began her career in 1995, as a member of the Dutch girl group Dignity. Rombley began her solo career in 1996, after winning the Dutch talent show ''Soundmixshow'', later winning the ''European Soundmix Show'' as well the following year. Cornald Maas is a Dutch television presenter who has been known for presenting talk shows in the Netherlands. He is the brother of Frans Maas. Melkweg (Dutch for "Milky Way") is a popular music venue and cultural centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located on Lijnbaansgracht, near Leidseplein, a prime nightlife square of Amsterdam. Varius Manx
Varius Manx is a Polish pop group, formed in Łódź in 1989 by composer Robert Janson. The name is a variation on the English word "various" plus Manx, the variety of cat. The band have sold more than 2 million albums in their native Poland. The band's first album, ''The Beginning'', which consisted entirely of instrumental music, was released in 1990 to measured success. The 1993 follow-up ''The New Shape'', featured vocals by Janson, Robert Amirian, and guests including Edyta Bartosiewicz. The band's breakthrough was its 1994 album ''Emu'', which marked a stark change in artistic direction. The band now had a lead singer, Anita Lipnicka, and now performed primarily in Polish. TVP1
TVP1 (TVP Jeden, ''Program I Telewizji Polskiej'', ''"Jedynka"'') is the main public television channel of TVP (Telewizja Polska S.A.), Poland's national television broadcaster. It was the first Polish channel to be broadcast and remains one of the most popular today. TVP1 was launched 25 October 1952. History TVP1 was launched as of 25 October 1952 as TV Polska. The tests resumed in the immediate post-war years and materialized in October 1952 with the launch of the first experimental broadcasts of Polish television. In January 1953, it broadcasts at the rate of half an hour per week, then an hour and a half in March. The schedule of programmes continued to grow and the broadcast time increased to 22 hours per week in 1957, 26 hours in 1958. Regional studios were added to those in Szczecin and Warsaw in 1956.
