The Point Cook Football Club, nicknamed The Bulldogs, is an Amateur Australian rules football club, based in the Melbourne suburb of Point Cook, playing in the Western Region Football League (WRFL). The club was founded in 2003 as a junior club and expanded to senior teams in 2010. Point Cook's home ground is Saltwater Reserve. The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale, Victoria, Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. The Canterbury Football Club is an Australian rules football club located in the Melbourne suburb of Canterbury. The club fields open-age teams in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. History Canterbury joined the Box Hill Reporter League in 1903 in that league's second year. The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in.
