Poding Memorial Library
Poding Memorial Library () is the library at Chaoyang University of Technology in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan, established in 1994. The construction of the new library building began in June 1997, and was completed in March 1999. History The first class of Chaoyang University of Technology started in August 1994, and the library opened on October 11 of the same year. The third floor of the university's Teaching Building temporarily served as the library's quarters. It was divided into a periodical and reference room, stacks, and a reading room. Afterward, the collection of the library increased so rapidly that in order to satisfy the needs of users it became necessary to add western book stacks and more separate rooms in November 1996. After a year of planning, the construction of the new library building began on June 28, 1997, and was completed in March 1999. Academic Library
An academic library is a library that is attached to a higher education institution and serves two complementary purposes: to support the curriculum and the research of the university faculty and students. Wufeng District
Wufeng District () is a suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. It is the location of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town. It was heavily damaged by the Jiji earthquake on 21 September 1999, which caused around 100 deaths in the town. The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, which commemorates the giant quake, is built at what was formerly Guangfu Junior High School, which was destroyed when part of the school was uplifted by the Chelungpu Fault during the quake. The two major geographical features of this town are the Wu Xi (Wu Stream), which forms the town's southern border, and Xiangbi Shan (Elephant Trunk Mountain), which lies in the eastern part of the township. Taichung (, Wade–Giles: ''Tʻai²-chung¹'', pinyin: ''Táizhōng''), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Taichung has approximately 2.8 million residents and is the second most populous city of Taiwan, as well as the most populous city in Central Taiwan. Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT; ) is a university in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan. Founded in 1994, originally named Chaoyang Institute of Technology was designated by the Ministry of Education as a University of Technology, the highest level in the technological and vocational education system within the R.O.C in 1997. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece.
