Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho (Kyiv Metro)
Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho ( uk, Площа Льва Толстого, ) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Obolonsko–Teremkivska Line. The station was opened on 19 December 1981, and is named after the writer Leo Tolstoy (who visited Kyiv only once). It was designed by N.A. Levchuk and V.B. Zhezheryn. The station is located deep underground and consists of a central hall with arcades in the walls. The central hall has been covered with orange-coloured marble and is lit by chandeliers and decorative lamps placed on the walls. Passenger tunnels connect the station to the Leo Tolstoy Square and another street. The station forms a station complex with a transfer tunnel with the adjoining Palats Sportu station on the Syretsko-Pecherska Line. Voters chose to rename the station Vasyl Stus - another choice was Lina Kostenko - in a May 20212 online poll (with 170,000 respondents) taken during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Shevchenkivskyi District, Kyiv
The Shevchenkivskyi District (, uk, Шевченківський район, lit=Shevchenkivskyi district, translit=Shevchenkivsʹkyi raion) is an urban district of the city of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was originally established on 4 April 1937, although in 2001 its area was increased following an annexation of the former Radianskyi and StaroKyivskyi districts. The district is historically significant, as it was here on the Old Kyiv mount where the apostle Saint Andrew erected the cross, also the famous Golden Gate of Kyiv, the main entrance to the medieval city of Kyiv is located in the district, as are the three major churches of the city: Saint Sophia, Saint Michael and Saint Andrew. Lina Kostenko
Lina Vasylivna Kostenko ( uk, Ліна Василівна Костенко; born 19 March 1930) is a Ukrainian poet, journalist, writer, publisher, and former Soviet dissident. A founder and leading representative of the Sixtiers poetry movement, Kostenko has been described as one of Ukraine's foremost poets and credited with reviving Ukrainian-language lyric poetry. Kostenko has been granted numerous honours, including an honorary professorship at Kyiv Mohyla Academy, honorary doctorates of Lviv and Chernivtsi Universities, and the Shevchenko National Prize, Legion of Honour. Early life and career Lina Vasylivna Kostenko was born to a family of teachers in Rzhyshchiv. Hero of Ukraine (HOU; uk, Герой України, ''Heroi Ukrainy'') is the highest national title that can be conferred upon an individual citizen by the President of Ukraine. The title was created in 1998 by President Leonid Kuchma and as of 11 December 2022 the total number of awards is 687; some decrees on the assignment of the title Hero of Ukraine were not published. Druzhby Narodiv (Kyiv Metro)
Druzhby Narodiv or Friendship of Peoples ( ua, Дружби Народів, , named after the road above the station) is a station of Kyiv Metro's Syretsko-Pecherska Line. It is situated between Pecherska and Vydubychi stations. This station was opened on 30 December 1991. Druzhby Narodiv station was designed by architects Alyoshkin and Krushynskiy. It is a deep level station. The station is connected by escalators with a passenger tunnel situated under Druzhby Narodiv boulevard. Druzhby Narodiv station operates from 05:43 to 00:12. On Friday 13 January 2023 the Kyiv City Council announced the metro station would be renamed. 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

Vasyl Semenovych Stus ( uk, Васи́ль Семе́нович Стус; 6 January 1938, Rakhnivka, Ukrainian SSR – 4 September 1985, Perm-36, Kuchino, Russian SFSR) was a Ukrainian poet, translator, literary critic, journalist, and an active member of the Ukrainian dissident movement.
