Plenty is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Nillumbik local government area. Plenty recorded a population of 2,575 at the 2021 census. Plenty is located within Greater Melbourne, beyond the Melbourne metropolitan area Urban Growth Boundary. It is a semi-rural area consisting mostly of large lots, with many being several acres in size. However, increasing urbanisation is evident near the border with the suburb of Greensborough. New housing estates are being established with the population in the area set to increase, however large areas of Plenty are still relatively untouched with development limited due to being in the green wedge. Plenty (band)
Plenty (stylized as plenty) was a Japanese indie rock band formed in Ibaraki, 2004. The band was previously signed to the Headphone Music Label. The band officially disbanded in 2017. Background Plenty was formed in 2004 in Ibaraki Prefecture by guitarist Fumiya Enuma, bassist Noriaki Nitta, drummer Hiroki Yoshioka, and a female schoolmate as the vocalist. However, the female schoolmate left the band upon graduating junior high school, leaving Enuma as the main vocalist. In 2008, the band relocated to Tokyo where drummer Yoshioka's parents' home became their main practice spot. In August, the band began performing in live houses and made their first public appearance at ''Rockin'On'' Inc.'s "Countdown Japan 08/09". Plenty debuted their first album "Haikei. ''The 100-Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating'' (or ''Plenty: One Man, One Woman, and a Raucous Year of Eating Locally'') is a non-fiction book written by Canadian writers Alisa Smith and J.B. MacKinnon. In the book, the authors recount their experiences, including motivations and challenges, on restricting their diet, for one year, to include only foods grown within 100 miles of their residence. Beginning in March 2005, with little preparation the urban couple began only purchasing foods with ingredients they knew were all from within 100 miles. Finding little in grocery stores, they relied on farmers' markets and visits to local farms. Staples in their diet included seafood, chicken, root vegetable, berries, and corn. They lacked cooking oils, rice, and sugar. They preserved foods for use in the winter but ended with extra supplies. Plenty International is an environmental, humanitarian aid and human rights organization based in Summertown, Tennessee, United States. Background In 1974, Stephen Gaskin and The Farm, an intentional community, started an outreach program called Plenty. In response to the devastating 1976 Guatemala earthquake, Plenty sent carpenters who built schools, houses and clinics in remote Mayan villages and a clinic for Mother Teresa. In its first ten years, Plenty established a clinic and orphanage in Bangladesh, an appropriate technology training center and reforestation program in Lesotho, and a wind-powered electric lighting system in a Carib Indian school in Dominica. The Plenty River is a perennial river of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the north-eastern Greater Melbourne region of the Australian state of Victoria. Course and features The Plenty River rises in the forested slopes of Mount Disappointment, northwest of . The river flows generally south, joined by three minor tributaries, before reaching its confluence with the Yarra River southeast of . The river descends over its course. The river is impounded by the Toorourrong Reservoir and is the source of Melbourne's first major water supply reservoir, the Yan Yean Reservoir, completed in 1857. ''Plenty'' is a play by David Hare, first performed in 1978, about British post-war disillusion. Productions The inspiration for ''Plenty'' came from the fact that 75 per cent of the women engaged in wartime SOE operations divorced in the immediate post-war years; the title is derived from the idea that the post-war era would be a time of "plenty", which proved untrue for most of England. Directed by the playwright, ''Plenty'' premiered in the Lyttelton Theatre on London's South Bank on 7 April 1978, featuring Kate Nelligan as Susan, the protagonist, and Stephen Moore as Raymond. It was nominated for the Olivier Award as ''Play of the Year'' and Nelligan as ''Best Actress in a New Play'', losing to '' Whose Life is it Anyway?'' and Joan Plowright in ''Filumena''.
