Play It Loud! Festival
Play It Loud! Festival was a heavy metal music, heavy metal music festival, festival held annually in Orzinuovi, Italy since 2007. It is organized by the My Graveyard Productions independent record label. The festival has up-and-coming bands from Italy and Europe (which usually occupy the first few performing slots), re-united Italian metal acts from the 80s (which perform during late afternoon and early evening) and old-school international metal acts from the past (which usually close the day as headliners). The first edition featured NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) legends Blitzkrieg (metal band), Blitzkrieg and Raven (band), Raven, while the second hosted the likes of Elixir (British band), Elixir, Cloven Hoof (band), Cloven Hoof, Helstar and Manilla Road. The third edition of the festival took place on February, 2009, and it will be co-Headliner (performances), headlined by Exciter (band), Exciter and Jag Panzer. Orzinuovi
Orzinuovi (Brescian: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. History It was founded in 1193 by statute of the ''comune'' of Brescia, as a boundary fortress with the name of "Orci Novi". Its history thenceforth closely follows that of Brescia, sharing the Venetian dominion from 1466 until Venice's demise in 1797. It became part of Napoleon's Italian states until 1815, when it became part of the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia, as part of the Austrian Empire. This continued until the Second Italian Independence War. From 1860 it has been part of the Italy/Kingdom of Italy. Vanexa
Vanexa is an Italian heavy metal band formed in 1978. Biography Born in Savona in 1978, thanks to the founding members Roberto Merlone (guitar), Sergio Pagnacco (bass) and Silvano Bottari (drums), the band's style is based on British metal sounds, typical of the NWOBHM. Vanexa were part of the new wave of heavy metal band made in Italy in the late 70s early 80s, like band as Vanadium, Sabotage and Strana Officina. They participated as the headliner at Rock in a Hard Place Festival in Certaldo in the province of Florence, May 21, 1983. In their careers they participated in compilation metal, such as Mountain of Metal, output in the United States, with the song "Hanged Man" and "Metallo Italia" with the song "It's Over". In 2007 they have been reissued on CD their first album Vanexa with 3 unreleased tracks, and their second album "Back From The Ruins" with five live tracks taken from a concert in 1984. Berserker (band)
In the Old Norse written corpus, berserkers ( non, berserkir) were those who were said to have fought in a trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the modern English word ''berserk'' (meaning "furiously violent or out of control"). Berserkers are attested to in numerous Old Norse sources. Etymology The Old Norse form of the word was (plural ). It likely means "bear-shirt" (compare the Middle English word ', meaning 'shirt'), "someone who wears a coat made out of a bear's skin". Alltheniko
Alltheniko are an Italian heavy metal band formed in Vercelli in 2002 by Dave Nightfight (vocals and bass), Joe Boneshaker (guitar) and Luke the Idol (drums). The band's name comes from a pun involving the comune of Oldenico. The line-up never changed since the beginning. History Alltheniko published three demos between 2002 and 2004. Thanks to these, in 2006 the group signed a record deal with My Graveyard Productions. The Italian label released the first three albums between 2006 and 2011. Furthermore, the debut album was released by Trinity Records Hong Kong for the Asian market. In 2012, the group signed a new deal with German label Pure Steel Records. Pure Steel has been distributed via Soulfood since 2014. Due to this the fifth and sixth release are available worldwide. Tarchon Fist
In Etruscan mythology, Tarchon and his brother, Tyrrhenus, were culture heroes who founded the Etruscan League of twelve cities, the Dodecapoli. One author, Joannes Laurentius Lydus, distinguishes two legendary persons named Tarchon, the Younger and his father, the Elder. It was the Elder who received the ''Etrusca Disciplina'' from Tages, whom he identifies as a parable. The Younger fought with Aeneas after his arrival in Italy. The elder was a haruspex, who learned his art from Tyrrhenus, and was probably the founder of Tarquinia and the Etruscan League. Lydus does not state that, but the connection was being made at least as long ago as George Dennis. Lydus had the advantage in credibility, even though late (6th century AD), of stating that he read the part of the ''Etrusca Disciplina'' about Tages and that it was a dialogue with Tarchon's lines in "the ordinary language of the Italians" and Tages' lines in Etruscan, which was difficult for him to read. Elixir (metal Band)
Elixir is a British heavy metal band, formed by Steve Bentley, Kevin Dobbs, Nigel Dobbs and Phil Denton in November 1983. They are notable for being associated with the new wave of British heavy metal movement. History 1983-1990 The band spent the first time after having formed writing material and rehearsing. After brief stints as "Purgatory" and "Hellfire" the members finally decided on naming the band "Elixir". According to the biography on the band's website the name was chosen through Steve Bentley closing his eyes, and putting his finger on a word in a dictionary at random. In need of a vocalist Elixir recruited singer Sally Pike, but after recording a four song demo tape and playing two gigs together, she left the band by the end of the year. In 1984, Pike was replaced by Paul Taylor, and later the same year guitarist Norman Gordon joined the band to fill the vacant spot left by Steve Bentley, who departed after Elixir had completed their second demo tape.
