Platte County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 32,237. Its county seat is Columbus. The county was created in 1855. Platte County comprises the Columbus, NE Micropolitan Statistical Area. In the Nebraska license plate system, Platte County is represented by the prefix 10 (it had the 10th-largest number of vehicles registered in the state when the license plate system was established in 1922). History Platte County was officially established in 1856 and the board of commissioners had its first meeting the following year. Platte County had its first presumptive case of COVID-19 in late March 2020. As of Oct. 3, 2021, one in seven residents of the county have tested positive for COVID-19 and 40% of all residents are vaccinated. Butler County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 8,369. Its county seat is David City. The county was created in 1856 and organized in 1868. In the Nebraska license plate system, Butler County is represented by the prefix 25 (when the license plate system was established in 1922, it had the 25th-largest number of vehicles registered of all counties in the state). In 2010, Nebraska's center of population was in Butler County, near the village of Rising City. Name There is some uncertainty about how Butler County got its name. The most credible consensus seems to be that Butler County is named for William Orlando Butler, a U.S. congressman from Kentucky and U.S. Army major general who served during the Mexican–American War. Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 10,515. Its county seat is Schuyler. The county and its seat are named after US Vice President (1869-1873) Schuyler Colfax.
