Platform Records
Platform Records is a UK-based independent record label, created in Edinburgh in 2007. Initial artists included The Shermans who scored two UK Independent Chart top 30 singles with "Calling It Wrong" (peaking at number 23), and "Venom" (peaking at number 10) which also reached number 7 in Scotland. Other notable Platform acts have included Dead Sea Souls, The OK Social Club, Lloyd James Fay and Susan Fassbender & Kay Russell whose album '' Twilight Café (The Demo Collection 1981–1985)'' included the original demo of their top 30 single "Twilight Cafe". Natasha England relaunched her career via Platform Records in 2007 with the first digital release of her 1982 top 10 single "Iko Iko" and 42-track anthology ''Back From The Mists of Time''. Twilight Café (The Demo Collection 1981–1985)
''Twilight Café (The Demo Collection 1981–1985)'' is an album of demo recordings by Susan Fassbender and Kay Russell, best known for their UK Top 30 hit "Twilight Café" in 1981. The album consists of material recorded in the early 1980s, but which remained unreleased until 2012. Five of the songs are Kay Russell solo tracks. Recording After Fassbender and Russell achieved chart success with "Twilight Café" in early 1981, their two follow-up singles did not chart, and they were dropped by their label CBS. The two musicians had already recorded a number of demos for a possible album release which ultimately never came to fruition, and continued to record occasionally during the early 1980s. Russell kept all these recordings, and thirty years later she decided to have them digitally remastered and released after seeing considerable fan interest on YouTube. ITunes Store
The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. As of April 2020, iTunes offered 60 million songs, 2.2 million apps, 25,000 TV shows, and 65,000 films. When it opened, it was the only legal digital catalog of music to offer songs from all five major record labels. The iTunes Store is available on most Apple devices, including the Mac (inside the Music app), the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod touch, and the Apple TV, as well as on Windows (inside iTunes). ''A View from the Terrace'' is a Scottish football magazine and factual television television series. It is broadcast on BBC Scotland and repeated on BBC One in Scotland. The show is produced by creative agency Studio Something and is adapted from the long-running podcast ''The Terrace''. History The show was launched in the opening week of the new BBC Scotland channel. It is hosted by Craig G. Telfer and features the recurring cast of Craig Fowler, Joel Sked, Shaughan McGuigan and Robert Borthwick. The panel take a loving and scathing look at Scottish football from the top of the leagues to the bottom as well as exploring the culture that surrounds the game in Scotland. Gypsy & The Cat were an indie/dream pop duo formed by former Melbourne DJs Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers. Iko Iko
"Iko Iko" () is a much-covered New Orleans song that tells of a parade collision between two tribes of Mardi Gras Indians and the traditional confrontation. The song, under the original title "Jock-A-Mo", was written and released in 1953 as a single by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford and his Cane Cutters but it failed to make the charts. The song first became popular in 1965 by the girl group the Dixie Cups, who scored an international hit with "Iko Iko". In 1967, as part of a lawsuit settlement between Crawford and the Dixie Cups, the trio were given part songwriting credit for the song. In 1972, Dr. John had a minor hit with his version of "Iko Iko". In the UK, a version recorded by Scottish singer Natasha England in 1982 made it to the top 10.
