Planet Groove
''Planet Groove'' is a music oriented talk show that premiered in late-1996 on BET, when the short-lived ''Unreal'' was cancelled. This show's hostess was Rachel Stuart (who originally hosted ''Caribbean Rhythms''). Like ''Video Soul'', the show had a primetime slot, airing from 8PM-10PM (Eastern Time) as a 2-hour long music video program. It also had a Top-20 countdown on Fridays as well. Hour change/New time In late 1997, the show's time slot was changed to 7PM-9PM (Eastern). 1998 saw a decrease in hours, going from two hours to one. Cancellation With decrease in popularity, the show was cancelled in 1999. ''Planet Groove'' was somewhat revived when BET launched ''106 & Park'' in 2000. It is owned by the CBS Entertainment Group unit of Paramount Global via BET Networks and has offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and was formerly headquartered in Washington, D.C. Rachel Stuart
Rachel Stuart (born 1972) is a Jamaican-Canadian model, actress and television personality. Personal life Stuart attended Mohawk College. Rachel Stuart is married to Paxton Baker, former vice president of BET Digital Networks and has three children. She currently resides in the Washington D.C., area. Career Stuart is a former Miss Caraïbes and Miss Jamaica and represented her country at Miss Universe 1993. ''Video Soul'' is a two–hour long American music video program that originally aired on BET (Black Entertainment Television) from June 26, 1981 to September 1996. The program was devoted to showcasing R&B and Soul recording artists and performers' music videos. History ''Video Soul'' premiered on June 26, 1981 and was originally a half-hour show. The show was created after MTV refused to play videos by most African-American musicians, as MTV made the de facto color policy effective. ''106 & Park'' is an American hip hop and R&B music video show, set up in a countdown format, that was broadcast on weekdays at 6:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CT on BET; it aired on a one-day delay on BET International.
