Plakali
Plakali is a staple food mainly prepared by the Ahanta people, Ahanta and Nzema people, Nzema peoples of the Western region of Ghana. It consists of cassava dough cooked in hot water, and it is similar to Banku (dish), banku, another Ghanaian staple food, and fufu. Plakali is eaten with palm nut or groundnut soup. Fufu
Fufu (or fufuo, foofoo, foufou ) is a dough-like food found in West African cuisine. In addition to Ghana, it is also found in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Angola and Gabon. It is often made in the traditional Ghanaian, Ivorian, Liberian, and Cuban method of separately mixing and pounding equal portions of boiled cassava with green plantain or cocoyam, or by mixing cassava/plantains or cocoyam flour with water and stirring it on a stove. Ahanta People
The Ahanta/Ayinda are Akan People who live to the north and east of the Nzema. The Ahanta land has been historically known as one of the richest areas on the coast of what is now Ghana. The Ahanta land spans from Beposo to Ankobra in what is now the Western Region of the Republic of Ghana, a regional power in the form of a confederacy of chiefdoms which had come in early contact with the European nations settling on the Gold Coast for the purpose of trade. Nzema People
The Nzema are an Akan people numbering about 328,700, of whom 262,000 live in southwestern Ghana and 66,700 live in the southeast of Côte d'Ivoire. In Ghana the Nzema area is divided into three electoral districts: Nzema East Municipal, also known as Evalue Gwira; Ellembele; and Nzema West, also known as Jomoro. Their language is also known as Nzima or Appolo. The Nzema are mostly farmers. According to their traditional calendar, days are ordered in cycles of seven, and these follow each other in a three-week cycle. Banku (dish)
In Ghanaian cuisine, ''banku'' and ''akple'' () are dishes made of a slightly fermented cooked mixture of corn and cassava doughs formed into single-serving balls. ''Banku'' is cooked in hot water until it turns into a smooth, whitish paste, served with soup, okra stew or a pepper sauce with fish. Peanut soup or groundnut soup is a soup made from peanuts, often with various other ingredients.
