Pittsburgh Penguins Radio Network
The Pittsburgh Penguins Radio Network is a radio network operated by the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League that provides broadcasts for all the team's games. Josh Getzoff assumed play-by-play duties at the start of the 2021-22 season after the retirement of hall of fame announcer Mike Lange. Former Penguin Phil Bourque is the color commentator. The flagship station since 2006 is WXDX-FM in Pittsburgh. Mike Lange began doing team radio broadcasts in 1974, and after not working for the team during the 1975–76 year, rejoined the network for the 1976–77 season. He provided play-by-play for radio as well as television when the team began simulcast broadcasts. When the two broadcasts separated in the mid-1990s, Lange worked exclusively on television for FSN Pittsburgh. In 2006, FSN did not renew Lange's contract, and he rejoined the radio network. Wisr 680
WISR (680 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Butler, Pennsylvania. The station was the first to go on the air in Butler County, doing so on September 26, 1941. The station was the last to be granted a broadcast license before the FCC halted the licensing of any additional stations until after World War II. It has always broadcast on AM 680 with a maximum power output of 250 Watts, non-directional. WISR had operated as a daytime-only station until it was granted limited nighttime power in the late 1980s. The station has a construction permit for an FM translator (W298CW) that would allow it to operate at 107.5 mHz. The permit was granted January 25, 2018. The FM translator officially signed on air September 28, 2021, making WISR available on both the AM and FM bands, and was licensed effective October 15, 2021. The New York Islanders (colloquially known as the Isles) are a professional ice hockey team based in Elmont, New York. WMBS
WMBS (590 AM) is a full service/ adult standards formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Uniontown, Pennsylvania, serving the Uniontown/Pittsburgh/ Morgantown area. WMBS is owned and operated by Fayette Broadcasting Corporation, and broadcasts at a power of 1,000 watts, day and night, adopting a two-tower directional antenna pattern at night from its facilities at 214 Georges Fairchance Road, just off U.S. Route 119. History WMBS became the very first station to sign on the air in all of Fayette County, doing so on July 15, 1937. This was also the second suburban station outside of Pittsburgh in southwestern Pennsylvania to go on the air. Ambridge is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. Beaver Falls is a city in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,005 at the 2020 census. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity.
