Pirate Party (France)
The Pirate Party (french: Parti pirate, PP) is a political party in France based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party. The party proposes the reform of the copyright law, free access to scientific knowledge, as well as protection of individual freedom. Like other pirate parties worldwide, it is affiliated to Pirate Parties International (PPI). The youth organisation is called ''Parti Pirates Jeunes'' (PPJ; ''Pirate Party Youth'') respectively ''Les Jeunes du Parti pirate'' (''The Youth of Pirate Party''). Pirate Party is a label adopted by political parties around the world. 2012 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections took place on 10 and 17 June 2012 (and on other dates for small numbers of voters outside metropolitan France) to select the members of the 14th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic, a little over a month after the French presidential election run-off held on 6 May. The Union for a Popular Movement (french: link=no, Union pour un mouvement populaire, ; UMP, ) was a centre-right political party in France that was one of the two major contemporary political parties in France along with the centre-left Socialist Party (PS). HADOPI Law
The French HADOPI law or Creation and Internet law (french: Haute Autorité pour la Diffusion des Œuvres et la Protection des droits d'auteur sur Internet, ; or, loosely in English, "Supreme Authority for the Distribution of Works and Protection of Copyright on the Internet") was introduced during 2009, providing what is known as a graduated response as a means to encourage compliance with copyright laws. HADOPI is the acronym of the government agency created to administer it. The part of the ''HADOPI law'' that allowed for suspension of Internet access to a repeat infringer was revoked on 8 July 2013 by the French government because that penalty was considered to be disproportionate. Loi DADVSI (generally pronounced as ''dadsi'') is the abbreviation of the French ''Loi relative au droit d’auteur et aux droits voisins dans la société de l’information'' (in English: "law on authors' rights and related rights in the information society").
