Pioltello
Pioltello ( lmo, Pioltell ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about northeast of Milan. Pioltello borders the following municipalities: Cernusco sul Naviglio, Vimodrone, Segrate, Rodano, Peschiera Borromeo, Vignate. Pioltello is served by Pioltello-Limito railway station. Among the churches, is the baroque-style, Roman Catholic Chiesa della Immacolata. Physical Geography Located about 6 kilometers east of Milan , the territory is between the SP ex SS 11 ''Padana Superiore'' (to the north, located between Cernusco sul Naviglio and Cassina de 'Pecchi ) and the SP 14 ''Rivoltana'' (to the south, located between Rodano and Vignate ) and is arranged along the north south axis, with an east west width of a couple of kilometers. Pioltello-Limito Railway Station
Pioltello-Limito ( it, Stazione di Pioltello-Limito) is a railway station in Pioltello, Lombardy, Italy. The station opened in 1846 and is located on the Milan–Venice railway. The train services are operated by Trenord. The station opened as ''Limito'' in 1846 and was renamed in 1908 to its current name. In the early 2000s, with the quadrupling of the line and the launch of the suburban railway of Milan, the station was upgraded and expanded, becoming an interchange point between regional and suburban trains. The station also received a new passenger building, built next to the original one, dating from the construction of the line. The new passenger building was opened on 22 May 2011. It became the location of the 25 January 2018 train derailment, which left two people dead and over 100 injured. Peschiera Borromeo
Peschiera Borromeo (; Milanese: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about southeast of Milan. It received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on August 6, 1988. Peschiera Borromeo borders the following municipalities: Milan, Pioltello, Segrate, Rodano, Pantigliate, San Donato Milanese, Mediglia. History The land was owned by the House of Borromeo of San Miniato in the 14th century and possibly earlier. Peschiera Borromeo's main attraction is the Borromeo Castle, built in 1437 by Vitaliano Borromeo. The Borromei were, during the later years of the Ambrosian Republic, pro-Francesco Sforza, and housed him in the castle while he besieged Milan in 1450. The Metropolitan City of Milan ( it, città metropolitana di Milano; lmo, label=Milanese, cittaa metropolitana de Milan ) is a metropolitan city (not to be confused with the metropolitan area) in the Lombardy region, Italy. Cernusco sul Naviglio (; lmo, Cernusch, ) is a town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Lombardy, northwestern Italy. With a population of 33,436 as of 2015 it is the 14th-largest municipality in the metropolitan city. It is located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) northeast of Milan along the Naviglio Martesana, which gives the town its name.
