Pinks And Greens
"Pinks and greens" and "Army greens" are colloquial terms for the United States Army's officer winter service uniform from World War II and the similarly patterned service uniform introduced in the early 21st century. "Pinks and greens" The "pinks and greens" uniform developed between the World Wars as a variant of the officer's service uniform. The service uniform consisted of a dark green (olive drab shade No. 51) coat with matching colored trousers. An alternate trouser option of a contrasting color with a slight pinkish hue (drab shade No. 54) was also authorized in 1924, which proved popular among officers, and displaced the olive drab pants in regular use. In 1944, an optional field jacket, sometimes called the Ike jacket due its association with Dwight Eisenhower, was introduced. The uniform continued in use through the Korean War. It was deauthorized for officers of the United States Army effective February 1, 1958, and for officers of the United States Army Reserve and th ... Daniel A
''Daniel'' is an anonymous Old English poem based loosely on the Biblical Book of Daniel, found in the Junius Manuscript. The author and the date of ''Daniel'' are unknown. Critics have argued that Cædmon is the author of the poem, but this theory has been since disproved. ''Daniel'', as it is preserved, is 764 lines long. There have been numerous arguments that there was originally more to this poem than survives today. The majority of scholars, however, dismiss these arguments with the evidence that the text finishes at the bottom of a page, and that there is a simple point, which translators assume indicates the end of a complete sentence. ''Daniel'' contains a plethora of lines which Old English scholars refer to as “hypermetric” or long. Daniel is one of the four major Old Testament prophets, along with Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. The poet even changed the meaning of the story from remaining faithful while you are being persecuted to a story dealing with pride, which ...
