Pilgrim Congregational Church in Redding, California was designed in 1958 by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, designer, writer, and educator. One of the parishioners contacted Wright, the architect, to inquire about designing a building. Mr. Wright responded to the proposal in January 1958 with these words: "Tell the people of the little church that I will help them out. If I like the ‘feel’ of a job, I take it." Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, designer, writer, and educator. He designed more than 1,000 structures over a creative period of 70 years. Wright played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century, influencing architects worldwide through his works and hundreds of apprentices in his Taliesin Fellowship. Wright believed in designing in harmony with humanity and the environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. This philosophy was exemplified in Fallingwater (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture". Wright was the pioneer of what came to be called the Prairie School movement of architecture and also developed the concept of the Usonian home in Broadacre City, his vision for urban planning in the United States. Pilgrim Congregational Church is an historic Congregational Church at 45 Broadway in Taunton, Massachusetts. The Ronamesque stone church was designed by architect Richard Upjohn and built in 1852. The congregation was established by a doctrinal division of the First Parish Church. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 1984. Description and history The Pilgrim Congregational Church is located on the east side of Broadway, a short way north of Taunton Green. It is a fieldstone structure, with a broad gabled roof and a slightly projecting square tower that divides the front (west-facing) facade into three parts. The main entrance is at the base of the tower, recessed under a round-arched opening. Windows on the front facade and tower are narrow Gothic arched windows up to the tower's belfry, which has three tall round-arch louvered openings on each face. Pilgrim Congregational Church is a historic Congregational church building at 909 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The brick Romanesque Revival building was constructed in 1887 to a design by local architect Stephen Earle. The buildings windows and other details are trimmed in sandstone, and a tower with projecting rounded corners rises from one corner. It features an open belfry with round-arch openings and is capped by a steeply pitched roof, with decorative finials at the corners. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Pilgrim Congregational Church is a Congregational church in Duluth, Minnesota. The current building at 2310 East Fourth Street has English Gothic architecture. History Major Luman H. Tenney and his wife led the foundation of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in 1870. In January 1871, Reverend Doctor Charles Cotton Salter of New Haven, Connecticut became the first pastor. The parishioners built a modest wooden structure at 2 East Second Street that was dedicated on July 16, 1871. Pilgrim Church's second building, used from 1888 to 1915, was designed by William H. Willcox and Clarence H. Johnston, Sr, also at East Second Street and Lake Avenue. Duluth architects Frederick German and Leif Jenssen designed the current building at Fourth Street and 23rd Avenue East. The estimated cost of construction was $100,000. Pilgrim Congregational Church is a historic congregation of the United Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Constructed in the 1890s for a congregation founded in the 1850s, it was named a historic site in the 1970s. Congregationalists began operating a Sunday school in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood in 1854, and their efforts resulted in the creation of a church five years later. The members began construction of their first church building in 1865, although it was not completed until 1870. It was suitable for the congregation's needs for only a short time, as construction on the present building was started just 23 years after the first building was finished. City Presbyterian Church (originally Park Congregational Church and later Pilgrim Congregational Church) is the name of a church located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States. The current congregation has no direct connection to the one which originally occupied the building. The building sits on a lot bound by 13th Street and Classen Drive, and therefore has two different street addresses. The "front" (main entrance) of the church is at 1433 Classen Drive, but the address listed on church literature and used for mail delivery is 829 NW 13th Street. The congregation, which informally calls itself "City Pres," is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America.
