Pilar Mateos
Pilar Mateos Martín (born 13 August 1942 in Valladolid) is a Spanish writer of children's literature. In her tales, she uses a simple vocabulary to talk about isolated, marginal or sad characters. She mixes reality and imagination in works where fantasy and dreams can create new realities. Valladolid
Valladolid () is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in Spain and the primary seat of government and de facto capital of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Castile and León. It is also the capital of the province of Valladolid, province of the same name. It has a population around 300,000 people (2021 est.). Population figures from 1 January 2013. Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader. Children's literature can be traced to traditional stories like fairy tales, that have only been identified as children's literature in the eighteenth century, and songs, part of a wider oral tradition, that adults shared with children before publishing existed. El Barco de Vapor is a children's Spanish editorial collection created in 1978 and published by Editorial SM. In 2019, it was launched Mi Barco de Vapor, customized books to encourage the reading and teamwork on kids. There is an award named after this collection, and in 2019 it was named and is for Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican writers.
