Pihasoittajat
Pihasoittajat (1969 to 1975) were a folk music band with modern popular music influences. In 1975 they represented Finland in the Eurovision song contest, placing 7th in a field of 19. Members of the band for the contest were Arja Karlsson, Hannu Karlsson, Seppo Sillanpää, Harry Lindahl, Kim Kuusi and Henrik Bergendahl. Pihasoittajat reformed after a 20-year break in 1995. After several concerts the second revival for the band ended with Hannu Karlsson's death in December 2000. In 2009, Pihasoittajat reformed again featuring all the remaining original band members (including Kyösti Pärssinen who did not appear in the Eurovision song contest), but excluding Seppo Sillanpää who had formed his own group with his daughters. Carita Holmström
Carita Elisabeth Holmström (born 10 February 1954, in Helsinki) is a Finnish pianist, singer and songwriter. She has written and played jazz and classical music during her career. She also had a duo, Carita & Marianne, with Marianne "Maru" Nyman. She represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 with the song "Keep Me Warm", finishing 13th. Kim Kuusi
Kim Kuusi (born 28 December 1947, in Helsinki) is a Finnish composer best known for his advertising jingles. Kuusi studied at the Helsinki School of Economics, also teaching there in 1975. Alongside studying, Kuusi had been involved in the creation of Ryhmäteatteri as its composer and musician from 1969 to 1973. Eurovision Song Contest 1975
The Eurovision Song Contest 1975 was the 20th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song " Waterloo" by ABBA. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Radio (SR), the contest was held at Stockholmsmässan on 22 March 1975, and was hosted by Swedish television director Karin Falck. It was the first time that the contest had taken place in Sweden. Nineteen countries participated in the contest, beating the previous record of eighteen, that was first set in the 1965 edition. France and Malta returned after their one-year and two-year absences, respectively. Turkey made its debut, while Greece decided not to enter after its debut the year prior. Fredi (singer)
Matti Kalevi Siitonen (23 July 1942 – 23 April 2021), known professionally as Fredi, was a Finnish comedic actor, musician, singer/songwriter and television presenter. Domestically he was best known as a founding member of the comedic variety ensemble Kivikasvot. Siitonen chose his stage name, Fredi, after the cartoon character, Fred Flintstone. Career Fredi was born in Mikkeli. In 1965 he recorded his first song, "Roskisdyykkarin Balladi" as Folk Fredi. A year later he dropped the Folk name and was simply known as Fredi. Internationally he represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 in Vienna, Austria with the song " Varjoon - suojaan" ("Into the shadow--into shelter"), which received three points and finished 12th out of 17. Hannu Karlsson
Hannu, Hennu or Henenu was an Egyptian noble, serving as ''m-r-pr'' "majordomo" to Mentuhotep III in the 20th century BC. He reportedly re-opened the trade routes to Punt and Libya for the Middle Kingdom of Egypt. He was buried in a tomb in Deir el-Bahri, in the Theban Necropolis, which has been catalogued as TT313. He is known from two inscriptions, in Wadi Hammamat no. 114 (ca. 2000 BC) as ''hnw'' and in his Deir el-Bahari tomb as ''hnnw''. It is unclear whether the two inscriptions refer to the same person. Keep Me Warm
Finland was represented by Carita Holmström, with the song "Keep Me Warm", at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 April in Brighton. Before Eurovision The Finnish national selection consisted of two semi finals and a final. The shows were hosted by Matti Palosmaa. Semi finals It both semi finals eight songs competed and four songs qualified for the final. The finalists were chosen by regional juries. First semi final Second semi final Final The final was held on February 16 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. The winner was chosen by a professional jury consisting of 20 members. British singer-songwriter Roger Whittaker performed as an interval act.
