Pierfrancesco Majorino
Pierfrancesco Majorino (born 14 May 1973) is an Italian politician and former Member of the European Parliament. He served as assessor of social policies of Milan during Giuliano Pisapia's term as mayor, from 2011 to 2016, as well as during the first mayoral term of Giuseppe Sala, from 2016 until his election as MEP in 2019. In 2019 he has been elected as a Member of the European Parliament. He has since been serving on the Committee on Development. In 2020, he also joined the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union. In addition to his committee assignments, Majorino is part of the Parliament's delegations to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee and to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. The Parliament is composed of 705 members (MEPs). It represents the second-largest democratic electorate in the world (after the Parliament of India), with an electorate of 375 million eligible voters in 2009. The Five Star Movement ( it, Movimento 5 Stelle , M5S) is a political party in Italy. Its leader and president is Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 until 2021. The M5S was founded on 4 October 2009 by Beppe Grillo, a comedian and blogger, and Gianroberto Casaleggio, a web strategist. 2023 Lombard Regional Election
The 2023 Lombard regional election took place on 12 and 13 February 2023. The election took place concurrently with the 2023 Lazio regional election, as decided by the Italian government on 9 December 2022. According to the final results, Attilio Fontana was reelected President of Lombardy with more than 54% of the votes, obtaining the greater bonus given by the electoral law. Voter turnout was registered at 41.61%, the lowest ever recorded for a regional election. The 2019 European Parliament election in Italy were held on 26 May 2019, electing members of the 9th Italian delegation to the European Parliament as part of the European elections held across the European Union. Electoral system The party-list proportional representation was the traditional electoral system of the Italian Republic from its establishment in 1946 to 1994, therefore it was also adopted to elect the Italian members of the European Parliament (MEPs) since 1979. Two levels were introduced: a national level to divide the seats among parties and a constituency level to distribute them among candidates in open lists. Giuseppe "Beppe" Sala (born 28 May 1958) is an Italian manager and politician, currently mayor of Milan. He was CEO of Expo 2015 in Milan from 2010 to 2015.
