Picture This (American TV Program)
''Picture This'' was an American television program that was broadcast on NBC and hosted by Wendy Barrie. In this 10-minute program, which ran Wednesdays from 8:20pm to 8:30pm ET, guest cartoonists drew cartoons to illustrate jokes or stories submitted by the studio audience. The first episode aired November 17, 1948 and the final episode February 9, 1949. The sponsor was Vick Chemical Company, which canceled after 13 weeks. The live program's reach was limited to seven stations on the east coast because at that time CBS had use of the coaxial cable connecting to midwestern stations from 8 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. A cartoon is a type of visual art that is typically drawn, frequently animated, in an unrealistic or semi-realistic style. Wendy Barrie
Wendy Barrie (born Marguerite Wendy Jenkins; 18 April 1912 – 2 February 1978) was a British-American film and television actress. Early life Barrie was born in London to English parents. Her father, Francis Charles John Graigoe Jenkin KC (1883 – 1936), was an employee of Great Western (according to the 1901 census), who then joined the Royal Fusiliers in 1902. Her mother was Ellen McDonagh. Hollywood gave her a more exotic parentage with her father being a King's Counsel and her mother a Russian-Jewish actress who had performed in the world's first professional Yiddish-language theater troupe. She received her education at a convent school in England and a finishing school in Switzerland. Film In 1932, Barrie made her screen debut in the film ''Threads'', which was based upon a play. The Adventures Of Oky Doky
''The Adventures of Oky Doky'' is an American children's television program that aired on the DuMont Television Network on Thursdays at 7pm ET from November 4, 1948, through May 26, 1949. Sometime in early 1949, the time slot for the show went from 30 minutes to 15 minutes. In March, the show was cut back to Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:45pm ET. The show had many similarities with ''Howdy Doody'', including a frontier/western theme and a cowboy puppet as the title character.
