Picture Parlour
Picture Parlour are an English indie rock band formed in Manchester by Katherine Parlour (vocals and guitar) and Ella Risi (guitar). Their lineup is completed by Sian Lynch (bass) and Michael Nash (drums). The band performed their debut show in December 2022 at The Windmill, Brixton, and immediately became regular performers there. The band released their debut single "Norwegian Wood" on 19 June 2023, which was followed by "Judgement Day" on 18 October 2023. History Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi met in Manchester as students and formed Picture Parlour as a duo, before relocating to London in 2021. The band recruited Sian Lynch and Michael Nash through a local Facebook musicians group. Picture Parlour performed their first show at The Windmill, Brixton, in December 2022. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. The Windmill, Brixton
The Windmill is a pub and live music venue in Brixton, London, England, with a reputation for championing new music. It was voted the third best music venue in London, in a 2012 poll in Time Out magazine, and #7 by The Guardian in 2008, and has been described as "one of the top-10 music venues in the U.K.". History The pub was built in 1971 for the adjacent Blenheim Gardens housing estate and named after the neighbouring heritage site of the only lasting (and working) windmill (aka Ashby's Mill) in the London area. Alan Moulder (born 11 June 1959) is an English record producer, mixing engineer, and audio engineer. Early life Moulder was born on 11 June 1959 in Boston, Lincolnshire. He was educated at Boston Grammar School. He had an interest in music from an early age, listing Cream and The Beatles among his favourite artists. The first album he bought was ''Electric Warrior'' by T. Rex, and he was impressed by the quality of the recording. Industry plant is a pejorative used to describe musicians who ostensibly become popular through their connections to the music industry yet present themselves as Independent music, independent and self-made. Artists described as industry plants are also often alleged to have their public images manufactured for them by record executives. The term originated in the early 2010s on Hip hop music, hip hop-focused message boards to describe various rappers before being used against indie rock and Pop music, pop musicians, such as Clairo and Billie Eilish, in the late 2010s. It has been called a conspiracy theory by critics and criticized in the media and by artists for being disproprotionately used against female artists and a form of misogyny, for placing scrutiny on individual musicians rather than the music industry as a whole, and for its variable meaning, or lack thereof, depending on who is using it. Alexander David Turner (born 6 January 1986) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
