Pia Camil
Pia Camil (born 1980) is a Mexican contemporary artist. Camil works in painting, sculpture, installation and performance. Biography Pia Camil was born in 1980 in Mexico City, Mexico. Camil was raised in Mexico City. Camil focused on studying painting in her college education. She earned a B.F.A. in Painting in 2003 from the Rhode Island School of Design, and an M.F.A. in 2008 from the Slade School of Fine Art, in London. Camil’s work is usually associated to the Mexican urban landscape, the aesthetic language of modernism and its relationship to retail and advertising. Recently she has engaged in public participation as a way to activate the work and engage with the politics of consumerism. Her work is included in many public museum collections including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Centre Pompidou, Blanton Museum of Art, and others. Cinthia Marcelle
Cinthia Marcelle was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1974. She is a Brazilian multimedia artist focusing in photography, video and installation work. She studied at the Universitadad Federal de Minas Gerais. She lives and works in Belo Horizonte. Art Marcelle's art is mainly characterized by the synthesis and concision of language in her work. She takes inspiration from things she sees in her everyday life such as typical objects, places and their interactions. She has had solo exhibitions at MoMA PS1, and the Secession. Desert X
Desert X is a site-specific, contemporary art exhibition that is held in the Coachella Valley in Southern California. The inaugural Desert X was held from February 25 to April 30, 2017, and has held subsequent exhibitions every two years. The next planned exhibition is for March 4, 2023. Background Desert X is the exhibition of Desert Biennial, a 501(c) charitable organization founded in 2015. The exhibition is meant to bring attention to the valley's environment through the display of works by emerging artists. Themes include climate change, immigration, tourism, gambling, and Native American culture. 2017 2017 was the inaugural exhibition year of Desert X.
