Phonon 2555 Vision
''Phonon 2555 Vision'' is a live video album by Susumu Hirasawa. It contains recordings of the ''Phonon 2555'' shows from 2012, part of the "Phonon" series of Hirasawa concerts. The number on the title represents the year of the performance on the Thai solar calendar. Overview The shows featured two guest performers: Yasuhiro Araki and PEVO 1go. Araki was the drummer of Hirasawa's New Wave band P-Model from 1984 to 1987, appearing on '' Karkador'' and '' One Pattern'' (one song from this period was performed on each show), PEVO 1go is the guitarist of the P-Model/Devo tribute band PEVO, who have collaborated with Hirasawa since the 90s. The concerts were the first to feature guest musicians (outside of singers brought as actors to Interactive Live Shows), since 2000's '' Philosopher's Propeller'' shows, and the second "Phonon" concert to do so since the ''Live Phonon'' ones from 1999. Susumu Hirasawa
is a Japanese musician and composer. In the fifth year of elementary school, Hirasawa took up the electric guitar, inspired by the surf and instrumental rock bands he heard on the radio and on TV, later joining his junior high school's band. In 1973 he formed Mandrake, a progressive rock band that incorporated elements from heavy metal and krautrock. Being one of the few Japanese progressive rock bands of its time, Mandrake achieved little success and released no albums during its lifetime. After discovering punk rock and working on synthesizer-heavy projects, Hirasawa felt that progressive rock became just for entertainment and decided to reform the band as the electronic rock band P-Model in 1979. One Pattern
''One Pattern'' (stylized as ''ONE PATTERN'') is a 1986 album by P-Model and the last before the band's hiatus in 1988. Background After the end of the supporting tour for ''Karkador'', P-Model was left without a bassist and a keyboardist. Frontman Susumu Hirasawa recruited Teruo Nakano and Yoshikazu Takahashi to fill the roles respectively, taking P-Model's sound in a new direction. ''One Pattern's'' style follows closely after Hirasawa's work in ''Karkador'', with Nakano as the main creative partner. Together, they employed varied musical styles, from orchestral to classic guitar work, while producing in a way as to create a lo-fi sound. Production Due to the rising prominence of digital technology at the time, artificial sounds were used on the album more so than ever before. Laser Harp
A laser harp is an electronic musical user interface and laser lighting display. It projects several laser beams played by the musician by blocking them to produce sounds, visually reminiscent of a harp. It was popularised by Jean-Michel Jarre, and has been a high-profile feature of almost all his concerts since 1981. The laser harp became famous in Asia by Japanese artist Susumu Hirasawa. The Blu-ray Disc (BD), often known simply as Blu-ray, is a digital optical disc data storage format. It was invented and developed in 2005 and released on June 20, 2006 worldwide. is a Japanese anime film trilogy, which adapts Kentaro Miura's ''Berserk'' manga series, specifically its Golden Age arc, and was produced by Studio 4°C. ''Virtual Rabbit'' is Susumu Hirasawa's third solo album. Overview ''Virtual Rabbit'' was made in the same style as the previous two albums, although greater in scale, with compositions more in line with Hirasawa's later solo work, and with a larger focus on orchestral styled instrumentation. It explores reality, religion, science, and dreams. With this album, Hirasawa continued to streamline his production methods, reducing the use of guest musicians in the album almost completely to choral backing. This was the first Hirasawa album to be engineered by Masanori Chinzei, who has since worked as engineer on all of Hirasawa's music.
