Pho (EP)
''Pho'' is the debut extended play by American singer Ari Lennox. It was released on October 21, 2016 by Dreamville Records and Interscope Records. Background The EP was mainly produced by DJ Grumble, with additional production from Felly, Hollywood JB, and Dave James. The only guest appearance in this EP was from Dreamville label-mate, Cozz, on the song "Backseat". Singles and promotion On December 8, 2015, "Backseat" was originally released on the collaborative effort, ''Revenge of the Dreamers II'', as promotion for Ari Lennox's debut release. The music video for "Backseat" was released on October 14, 2016. The music video for "GOAT" was uploaded to Ari's Vevo on YouTube on November 13, 2017. Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26, 1991), known professionally as Ari Lennox, is an American Contemporary R&B, R&B singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's record label, Dreamville Records. She began gaining recognition after the release of her first EP ''Pho (EP), Pho'' (2016) on the label. That same year, she made an uncredited guest appearance on Cole's song "Change (J. Cole song), Change". Lennox's debut studio album ''Shea Butter Baby'' followed in 2019. ''Revenge of the Dreamers II'' is the second compilation album by American record label Dreamville Records and was released on December 8, 2015. The album includes contributions by Dreamville artists, J. Cole, Bas, Cozz, Omen, Lute, and Ari Lennox. Producers on this album include, J. Cole, Cedric Brown, K-Quick, Soundwave, Meez, Elite, Ron Gilmore Jr., DJ Grumble, and J Dilla. Steve Gray (musician)
Steve Gray (18 April 1944 – 20 September 2008) was a British pianist, composer and arranger. Biography Gray was born in Middlesbrough, England. At the age of 10, he began teaching himself to play the piano. He joined the Middlesbrough Junior Orchestra, at first playing the bassoon but later switching to the saxophone. The orchestra was directed by Ron Aspery, who would go on to create the fusion group Back Door. During the 1970s he played sessions for Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Lalo Schifrin, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr and John Barry. Gray joined John Williams' band Sky in 1981, replacing Francis Monkman on keyboards, a role he continued until Sky's final live concerts in 1995. Gray was also a respected composer of concert works. Rodney Franklin (born September 16, 1958) is an American jazz pianist and composer. Biography Franklin was born in Berkeley, California in September, 1958. In 1964, aged six, he took jazz piano lessons at the Washington Elementary School and was taught by Dr Herb Wong who was a jazz journalist, disc jockey and music teacher. Jean Carn, also spelled Jean Carne (born Sarah Jean Perkins; March 15, 1947) is an American jazz and pop singer. In mid career, she added a final ''e'' to her name. Carn is a vocalist credited with a five octave vocal range. Biography Carn was born Sarah Jean Perkins in Columbus, Georgia. At the age of four, she became a member of her church choir. Carn planned on furthering her studies at Juilliard School of Music in New York City when she met and married jazz pianist Doug Carn (the couple later divorced) and became a featured vocalist in his jazz fusion band.
