Philomena Bijlhout
Philomena Bijlhout (born 13 November 1957) is a Surinamese-born Dutch former politician and television presenter. She served as an MP in the Member of the House of Representatives as a member of the Pim Fortuyn List and was briefly State Secretary for Social Affairs, Employment and Equality in the First Balkenende cabinet. Her tenure was notable for being the first female foreign-born and ethnic minority politician to hold the post and the shortest in Dutch political history. Bijlhout has since worked as a broadcaster. Biography Bijlhout worked in television broadcasting in Suriname and later in the Netherlands. She was editor-in-chief and a presenter for RTV Rijnmond. As a close associate of nationalist politician Pim Fortuyn, in 2002 she was recruited as a candidate for the Pim Fortuyn List (LPF) party. The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Desiré Delano "Dési" Bouterse (; born 13 October 1945) is a Surinamese military officer, politician, convicted murderer and drug trafficker who served as President of Suriname from 2010 to 2020. From 1980 to 1987, he was Suriname's ''de facto'' leader after conducting 1980 Surinamese coup d'état, a military coup and establishing a period of 1980 Surinamese coup d'état, military rule. Mathieu "Mat" Herben (born 15 July 1952) is a Dutch journalist, civil servant and retired politician of the dissolved Pim Fortuyn List (LPF) party and served as leader of the LPF 2003 to 2006. In May 2002, the party of the slain populist Pim Fortuyn elected him as its new leader, after the party turned out in force in the parliamentary elections. As of 23 May 2002 he has been a member of LPF's parliamentary party in the House of Representatives of the Staten-Generaal.
