Philippines At The 2015 Southeast Asian Games
The Philippines competed at the 28th Southeast Asian Games from 5 to 16 June 2015. The Philippines contingent was composed of 472 athletes and 136 sporting officials participating in 35 out of the 36 sports. Preparation Singapore National Olympic Committee trimmed the number of "Traditional" sports and prioritized sports that are staged in the Olympics to increase the level of competition among nations in key sports. 24 of the 36 sports played in this edition will be Olympic Sports. Philippines were eyeing for a decent finish in this edition of the Southeast Asian Games after a dismal finish of 7th place, its worst finish since joining the biennial event. Philippines At The 2005 Southeast Asian Games
The Philippines participated in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games at which they were hosting the biennial meet for the third time. Athletes from the country earned 113 gold medals which placed the Philippines in the medal tally as the overall champions, 26 gold medals ahead of Thailand. Gareth Leslie "Gaz" Holgate (born 3 December 1987) is a Welsh-born Philippine international rugby union player. Born in St Asaph, Denbighshire, Holgate currently plays for Japanese club Kyuden Voltex. His primary position is as a centre, but he can also play as a fly-half. Nikko Bryan Huelgas
Nikko Bryan Oreta Huelgas (born July 19, 1991) is a Filipino professional triathlete who competes internationally. He is the first Filipino to win a gold medal in the men's individual triathlon event at the Southeast Asian Games securing the feat in the 2015 edition. He also successfully defended his title at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. He is currently the captain of the Philippine National Triathlon team. The Philippines competed at the 30th Southeast Asian Games which was hosted by them from 30 November to 11 December 2019. This was the fourth time that the country hosted the biennial meet. The country placed 1st again in the medal tally with 149 gold medals and 36 higher than the 23rd SEA Games in 2005 wherein the Philippines also hosted and placed 1st. The Philippines competed at the 29th Southeast Asian Games which took place in Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017. The Philippines contingent was composed of 497 athletes, 163 sporting officials and 70 administrative and medical staff who competed in 37 out of the 38 sports. The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years.
