Philippines At The 2011 Southeast Asian Games
This year's Philippine contingent at the 26th Southeast Asian Games consists of 512 athletes and 140 officials which is higher than the proposed contingent. Filipino Athletes will compete in a total of 39 sports events. The games will be held from 11 to 22 November 2011 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. The Philippine Olympic Committee Inc. (POC) is the National Olympic Committee of the Philippines. The POC is a private, non-governmental organization composed of and serve as the mother organization of all National Sports Associations (NSAs) in the Philippines. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as having the sole authority for representation of the Philippines in the Olympic Games, the Asian Games, the Southeast Asian Games and other multi-event competitions. The Philippines participated in the 22nd Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 5 to 13 December 2003. SEA Games performance The country sent the 600-strong contingent, the biggest sent abroad in the past three editions. The increase in the Gold tally is a reflection of the jacked up number of events the Philippines took part as they bested its dismal tally in Malaysia two years ago. The Philippines participated in 28 sports. Track and Field wound up as the biggest earner with eight golds to show, followed by Wushu with six and Taekwondo with five. 2011 Southeast Asian Games
The 2011 Southeast Asian Games, ( id, Pesta Olahraga Asia Tenggara 2011) officially known as the 26th Southeast Asian Games, or the 26th SEA Games, and commonly known as Jakarta-Palembang 2011, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held from 11 to 22 November 2011 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. It was Indonesia's fourth time to host the Southeast Asian Games, and its first since 1997. Previously, Indonesia also hosted in 1979 and 1987. The capital city of Jakarta hosted all three of the previous Games prior to this. Palembang became the third SEA Games non-capital host city, after Chiang Mai (1995) and Nakhon Ratchasima (2007), both in Thailand. The Philippines competed at the 30th Southeast Asian Games which was hosted by them from 30 November to 11 December 2019. This was the fourth time that the country hosted the biennial meet. The country placed 1st again in the medal tally with 149 gold medals and 36 higher than the 23rd SEA Games in 2005 wherein the Philippines also hosted and placed 1st. The host Philippines emerged in the medal tally as the overall champion for the first time in 14 years breaking its own medal count record in 2005. The Philippines competed at the 29th Southeast Asian Games which took place in Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017. The Philippines contingent was composed of 497 athletes, 163 sporting officials and 70 administrative and medical staff who competed in 37 out of the 38 sports. The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years. The Philippines competed at the 28th Southeast Asian Games from 5 to 16 June 2015. The Philippines contingent was composed of 472 athletes and 136 sporting officials participating in 35 out of the 36 sports. Preparation Singapore National Olympic Committee trimmed the number of "Traditional" sports and prioritized sports that are staged in the Olympics to increase the level of competition among nations in key sports. 24 of the 36 sports played in this edition will be Olympic Sports.
