Philippine Skating Union
The Philippine Skating Union (PhSU) is the sports governing body of the Philippines for figure skating and short track speedskating. PhSU was granted provisional membership on June 13, 2004 by the International Skating Union. Full membership was granted upon the completion of an Olympic sized skating rink at the SM Mall of Asia. It is a National Sports Association duly recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee. PhSU was originally established as the Ice Skating Institute of the Philippines. Figure Skating
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The Olympic disciplines are men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; the four individual disciplines are also combined into a team event, first included in the Winter Olympics in 2014. The non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating, Theater on Ice, and four skating. Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice skating, ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters (typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track with a length of . Philippine Open Short Track Championships
The Philippine Open Short Track Championships is the national short track speed skating competition in the Philippines. It is organized by the Philippine Skating Union. The first edition will be held on September 27, 2018, at the SM Megamall Ice Skating Rink in Mandaluyong. The performance of the more than 35 athletes which will compete in the inaugural edition of the championships will be used as basis for the selection of the Philippines' representatives in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in short track speed skating. 500-meter, 1000-meter, 1,500-meter and relay will be contested for both male and female competitors.
