Philip Francis Thomas (September 12, 1810October 2, 1890) was an American lawyer, mathematician and politician. He served in the Maryland House of Delegates, was the 28th Governor of Maryland from 1848 to 1851, and was Comptroller of Maryland from 1851 to 1853. He was appointed as the 23rd United States Secretary of the Treasury in 1860 in the Buchanan administration. After unsuccessfully standing for the United States Senate in 1878, he returned to the Maryland House of Delegates, and later resumed the practice of law. Philip Anthony Thomas (born 17 August 1978) is an English cricketer. Thomas is a right-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He was born in Liverpool, Lancashire. Thomas made his debut for Cheshire in the 2000 MCCA Knockout Trophy against the Derbyshire Cricket Board. He played a further Knockout Trophy match in 2000, against the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board. In that same season he played his only Minor Counties Championship match against Wales Minor Counties. The following season, he made his only List A appearance against Cornwall in the 2nd round of the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was played in 2001. In this match he wasn't required to bat, but with the ball he did take 2 wickets for the cost of 48 runs. His wickets were those of James Hands and Benjamin Price. Sir Philip Lloyd Thomas, KCVO, CMG (born 1948) is a retired British diplomat. Thomas graduated from St John's College, Cambridge, and entered HM Diplomatic Service in 1972, being appointed Third Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Philip Leslie Thomas (14 December 1952 – August 1998) was an English footballer who played as a midfielder in the Football League for Colchester United. Career Born in Sherborne, Thomas began his career with Bournemouth, signing a professional deal with the club in July 1971 following his apprenticeship. He failed to break into the first team with the club and was subsequently signed by Colchester United manager Dick Graham in the summer of 1972. Thomas made his Colchester debut in the League Cup against Gillingham on 16 August 1972, a 1–0 defeat. After Graham's resignation, Thomas continued to be a regular fixture in the first-team under new manager Jim Smith, helping his side gain promotion to the Third Division in the 1973–74 season, featuring mainly on the wing. Philip Thomas (born 12 February 1965), better known as Cutty Ranks, is a Jamaican dancehall singer. Biography Thomas was born in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica in 1965. He began his career as a reggae artist at the age of eleven with local sound systems, going on to work with the Gemini sound system, before moving on to work with Tony Rebel's Rebel Tone and Papa Roots, and later working with Stereo Mars, Arrows and Metro Media.
