Philip Pearson
Philip James Pearson (born February 16, 1971) is an American basketball assistant coach for the UAB Blazers men's basketball Team. During part of the 2008–09 college basketball season, he was the interim head coach for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team. Early life Pearson was born in Montgomery, Alabama and attended high school at Jeff Davis High School, where he lettered in basketball and baseball, and was also named an all-city basketball player. He attended the University of Alabama between 1989 and 1994 where he played varsity basketball for five seasons, before graduating in December 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While playing basketball, he was named as the Paul Bryant Student-Athlete of the Year and President's list academic honor roll. UAB Blazers Men's Basketball
The UAB Blazers men's basketball team represents the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the NCAA Division I men's college basketball, and have competed in Conference USA (C-USA) since 1995. History The UAB Blazers started their athletics program with the creation of men's basketball in 1978. Setting high standards from the start, UAB was able to lure Gene Bartow away from his post as the head coach at UCLA to start the Blazer program. Known as the "Father of UAB athletics," Coach Bartow was able to guide the Blazers to early success by reaching the NCAA tournament in just their third season of existence. Since their inaugural season, the Blazers have made 15 appearances in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and 12 appearances in the National Invitational Tournament. 2008–09 Alabama Crimson Tide Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team (variously "Alabama", "UA", "Bama" or " The Tide") represented the University of Alabama in the 2008–09 college basketball season. The head coach was Mark Gottfried, who was in his eleventh year until his resignation January 26, 2009. Philip Pearson would be the interim for the remainder of the season. The team played its home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and was a member of the Southeastern Conference. This was the 96th season of basketball in the school's history. Mark Fox (basketball)
Mark Leslie Fox (born January 13, 1969) is a men's college basketball coach who is the head coach of the California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference. He spent nine seasons (2009 to 2018) as the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was previously the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack, named to that position on June 1, 2004, just days after former Nevada coach Trent Johnson had resigned. Coaching career Nevada Fox was the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball team from 2004 to 2009. While with the Wolf Pack, Fox compiled an overall record of 123–43. Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015. The Tennessee Volunteers Men's Basketball Team is the collegiate men's basketball program for the University of Tennessee–Knoxville. 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2009 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was a single-elimination tournament in which 65 schools competed to determine the national champion of the men's NCAA Division I college basketball as a culmination of the 2008–09 basketball season. The tournament began on March 17, 2009, and concluded with the championship game on April 6 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, where the University of North Carolina defeated Michigan State to become the champion.
